Alcatel A62

The Alcatel A62 adopts a straightforward design with no folding mechanism and no rugged construction, positioning it as a standard candy-bar form factor device. Notably, it offers no water resistance, meaning it lacks any official protection rating against moisture or dust exposure.

The Alcatel A62 uses an IPS LCD touchscreen measuring 6.8 inches, with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and a pixel density of 258 ppi. The panel supports a 90Hz refresh rate for smoother on-screen motion, though it does not include an Always-On Display mode or a secondary screen. On the content side, neither HDR10, HDR10+, nor Dolby Vision are supported, and the display does not feature branded damage-resistant glass.

The Alcatel A62 is powered by the Unisoc T7200 chipset, built on a 12nm process with an 8-thread CPU running at 1.6 GHz across all cores, supported by big.LITTLE and HMP technology for workload distribution. It comes with 4GB of DDR4 RAM at 1600 MHz and 64GB of eMMC 5.1 internal storage, with a maximum supported memory amount of 14GB. Graphics are handled by the Mali G57 MP1 GPU, clocked at 650 MHz with 64 shading units, supporting DirectX 12, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2. The SoC also integrates LTE and features ARM TrustZone for hardware-level security. In benchmarks, the chipset scores 1391 and 371 in Geekbench 6 multi- and single-core tests respectively, 1175 and 313 in Geekbench 5, and a PassMark score of 2663 with a single-core result of 988. Additional technical details include a maximum memory bandwidth of 12.8 GB/s, a 10W TDP, L1 cache of 128 KB, L2 cache of 2 MB, and L3 cache of 1 MB.

The Alcatel A62 features a single-lens 13MP rear camera with a CMOS sensor, phase-detection autofocus, and touch autofocus, though it lacks optical image stabilization, a BSI sensor, and laser autofocus. Video recording tops out at 1080p at 30fps with continuous autofocus and slow-motion support, while HDR10 and Dolby Vision recording are not available. Manual controls cover exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, though manual shutter speed is absent, and the camera can shoot panoramas but does not support RAW capture or 360° panoramas. A single LED flash is present on the rear, with no dual-tone or RGB flash option. On the front, a 5MP camera with an f/2.2 aperture handles selfies, offered as a single-lens setup without an under-display placement or a dedicated flash. There is no optical zoom on the main camera, and 3D photo or video capture is not supported.

The Alcatel A62 runs Android 15 as a free and open-source operating system, bringing a solid set of privacy and usability features. On the privacy side, it includes clipboard warnings, location privacy options, camera and microphone access controls, and the ability to block app tracking, though Mail Privacy Protection and cross-site tracking blocking are not present. The interface supports dark mode, dynamic theming, theme customization, widgets, and an extra dim mode for low-light comfort, while focus modes and Quick Start are absent. Productivity is aided by split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, full-page screenshots, a media picker, sharing intents, and the ability to play games while they download. The system also supports on-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, voice commands, customizable notifications, a child lock, multi-user accounts, app offloading, battery health check, and phone tracking. Direct OS updates from the vendor are not supported, and the device cannot be used as a PC. Wi-Fi password sharing is likewise unavailable.

The Alcatel A62 is equipped with a 5010 mAh rechargeable battery that ships with a charger included in the box. It supports fast charging at 10W, though wireless charging and reverse wireless charging are both absent. The battery is non-removable and comes with a battery level indicator. There is no wireless charging of any kind, keeping the charging experience strictly wired.

The Alcatel A62 includes a 3.5mm headphone jack and stereo speakers, covering the basics for wired listening and on-device audio output. It does not have a built-in radio. On the wireless audio side, none of the advanced Bluetooth codecs are supported — aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, and LDAC are all absent.

The Alcatel A62 supports cellular connectivity with a dual-SIM configuration and LTE, reaching download speeds of 300 MBits/s and upload speeds of 100 MBits/s, though 5G is not available. Wi-Fi is handled by Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n), and the device includes a USB Type-C port along with an external memory slot for expandable storage. Navigation is covered by GPS and Galileo support, and an accelerometer is present, while a barometer, infrared sensor, heart rate monitor, motion tracking, and optical tracking are all absent. Security relies on a fingerprint scanner, with no 3D facial recognition or iris scanner on board. NFC is not included, and neither are ANT+, DLNA certification, HDMI output, or a built-in projector. Satellite emergency SOS and crash detection are likewise not supported, and no stylus is included in the box.

The Alcatel A62 includes a video light, which assists with illumination during video recording. The display is flat rather than curved and uses neither sapphire glass nor an e-paper panel.
