The iPhone 16 Pro features a triple-lens rear camera system with sensors at 48, 48, and 12 MP, apertures of f/1.78, f/2.2, and f/2.8, and pixel sizes of 1.22, 0.7, and 2.8 µm respectively, covering a focal range from 13 mm to 120 mm with 5× optical zoom. All three sensors use BSI CMOS technology, and the system includes optical image stabilization, phase-detection autofocus, laser autofocus, and continuous autofocus during video recording. The operating system on the iPhone 16 Pro includes a broad set of privacy controls, covering clipboard warnings, location privacy options, camera and microphone access management, Mail Privacy Protection, the ability to block app tracking, and cross-site tracking prevention. Users benefit from on-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, voice commands, and device position tracking. Customization options include theme customization, dark mode, focus modes, widgets, customizable notifications, and a media picker, though dynamic theming and an extra dim mode are not available. The OS supports full-page screenshots, Live Text, Picture-in-Picture, AirPlay, SharePlay, sharing intents, Wi-Fi password sharing, app offloading, a child lock, battery health check, and Quick Start. Direct OS updates are delivered by the vendor. Split-screen multitasking, multi-user support, the ability to play games while downloading, and use as a PC are not supported, and the OS is not free or open source.

The iPhone 16 Pro houses a 3,582 mAh rechargeable battery with a rated battery life of 27 hours, and a battery level indicator is present. It supports fast wired charging at 24W as well as wireless charging at 25W, though reverse wireless charging is not available and no charger is included in the box. The battery is not removable.

The iPhone 16 Pro includes a video light for use during video recording, while the display is flat rather than curved and uses neither sapphire glass nor an e-paper panel.
