Apple iPhone Air

The Apple iPhone Air has a compact footprint of 156.2 x 74.7 mm with a volume of 65.81 cm³, and at just 5.64 mm thick it maintains a notably slender profile while weighing 165 g. It carries an IP68 ingress protection rating, certifying it as waterproof to a depth of 6 metres. The device does not feature a rugged build and cannot be folded. Its operating temperature range spans from 0 °C at the lower end to a maximum of 35 °C.

The iPhone Air features a 6.5-inch OLED/AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 1260 x 2736 px and a pixel density of 460 ppi, delivering a sharp and detailed image. The display runs at a 120 Hz refresh rate with a matching 120 Hz touch sampling rate, and reaches a typical brightness of 1000 nits alongside a contrast ratio of 2000000:1. It supports both HDR10 and Dolby Vision for wide-format content, though HDR10+ is not supported. Always-On Display is available, and the screen does not use branded damage-resistant glass. There is no secondary screen, and the device does not include an e-paper or folding panel of any kind.

The iPhone Air is driven by the Apple A19 Pro chipset, built on a 3 nm process with 20 billion transistors and a thermal design power of 10W. The six-thread CPU runs at speeds of 2 x 4.26 GHz and 4 x 2.51 GHz using big.LITTLE architecture with Heterogeneous Multi-Processing, and scores 3895 in Geekbench 6 single-core and 9746 in multi-core testing. The Apple A18 GPU operates at 1490 MHz with 128 shading units and integrated graphics support. The device pairs 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM at 4800 MHz with 1024 GB of internal storage, reaching a maximum memory bandwidth of 78.8 GB/s and a 16 MB L2 cache. LTE is integrated into the SoC, and the chip supports 64-bit processing, NX bit, TrustZone, and HMP, while ECC memory and multithreading are not supported.

The iPhone Air's main camera offers 48 MP resolution with an f/1.6 aperture, a BSI CMOS sensor, optical image stabilization, and 2x optical zoom. It uses phase-detection autofocus for stills and continuous autofocus during video, and supports touch autofocus as well, though laser autofocus is not available. Video recording reaches up to 2160p at 60 fps with HDR10 and Dolby Vision recording support, and slow-motion capture is also included. The rear flash unit features a dual-tone LED setup with two LEDs, while an RGB flash is not present. Manual controls extend to exposure, ISO, shutter speed, white balance, and focus, and the camera also supports burst mode, in-camera panoramas, timelapse, and HDR — though 360-degree panoramas, RAW capture, and 3D recording are not available. The front camera resolves at 18 MP with an f/1.9 aperture and is a single-lens setup positioned above the display, without a front-facing flash.

The operating system includes a broad set of privacy controls, covering clipboard warnings, location privacy options, camera and microphone access management, Mail Privacy Protection, the ability to block app tracking, and cross-site tracking prevention. On-device machine learning is supported, and the system receives direct OS updates from the vendor. Productivity and usability features include dark mode, focus modes, customizable notifications, a media picker, full-page screenshots, Live Text, widgets, Picture-in-Picture, AirPlay, SharePlay, sharing intents, Wi-Fi password sharing, offline voice recognition, voice commands, a child lock, app offloading, battery health check, phone tracking, and Quick Start. Theme customization, dynamic theming, extra dim mode, and split-screen multitasking are not available, and the system does not support multi-user accounts or the ability to function as a PC. Playing games while downloading is also not supported, and the software is not free and open source.

The iPhone Air is equipped with a 3149 mAh rechargeable battery with a rated battery life of 27 hours and a battery level indicator. It supports fast wired charging at 20W as well as wireless charging at 30W, though reverse wireless charging is not available and no charger is included in the box. The battery is non-removable and does not support reverse wireless power sharing.

The iPhone Air includes three microphones but does not feature a 3.5 mm headphone jack, stereo speakers, or a built-in radio. Wireless audio codec support is limited as well, with no aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC available.

The iPhone Air supports 5G connectivity alongside Wi-Fi 4, 5, 6, 6E, and Wi-Fi 7, and accommodates one physical SIM card plus one eSIM. Bluetooth 6 and NFC are both present, and the device uses a USB Type-C port running at USB 2.0 speeds, with no external memory slot or HDMI output available. Cellular download speeds reach up to 10,000 Mbit/s with upload speeds of up to 3,500 Mbit/s. For authentication, the device uses 3D facial recognition, while a fingerprint scanner and iris scanner are not included. Sensors on board include a gyroscope, accelerometer, barometer, GPS, compass, and Galileo satellite navigation support, and the device also features emergency SOS via satellite and crash detection. ANT+, infrared sensor, heart rate monitor, motion tracking, optical tracking, and a built-in projector are all absent, and no stylus is included. The device is not DLNA-certified.

The iPhone Air includes a video light for use during video recording, while the display is flat rather than curved and does not use sapphire glass or e-paper technology.
