Asus ROG Phone 9

The Asus ROG Phone 9 has a non-folding, standard-build design measuring 163.8 mm tall, 76.8 mm wide, and 8.9 mm thick, with a total volume of 111.96 cm³ and a weight of 227 g. It carries an IP68 ingress protection rating, meaning it is fully waterproof against dust and water submersion. The device does not feature a rugged build, keeping its profile closer to a conventional smartphone form factor.

The Asus ROG Phone 9 features a 6.78″ OLED/AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 px and a pixel density of 388 ppi, delivering a sharp and vibrant visual experience. The panel runs at a 185Hz refresh rate paired with a 720Hz touch sampling rate, and reaches a typical brightness of 1600 nits. It supports both HDR10 and HDR10+, while Dolby Vision is not included. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and includes an Always-On Display mode; there is no secondary screen on the device.

The Asus ROG Phone 9 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite, a 3 nm chipset with an 8-thread CPU configuration running at 2 x 4.32 GHz and 6 x 3.53 GHz, supported by big.LITTLE architecture and Heterogeneous Multi-Processing. It comes with 16 GB of DDR5 RAM at 5300 MHz and 512 GB of internal storage, with a maximum supported memory amount of 24 GB and a peak memory bandwidth of 85.1 GB/s across 2 memory channels. The Adreno 830 GPU clocks at 1100 MHz with 1536 shading units, supports DirectX 12, OpenGL 3.2, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 3, and can drive up to 2 displays simultaneously. The chipset has a TDP of 8.2 W and includes integrated LTE, integrated graphics, TrustZone security, ECC memory support, and multithreading. Cache memory is organized as 192 KB L1, 12 MB L2, and 8 MB L3. Benchmark results include an AnTuTu score of 3,110,000, Geekbench 6 scores of 3,234 single-core and 10,059 multi-core, and a PCMark Work 3.0 result of 26,929.

The Asus ROG Phone 9 has a triple-lens rear camera system with resolutions of 50, 13, and 5 MP and corresponding apertures of f/1.9, f/2.2, and f/2.4, built around a CMOS sensor without back-illumination. The main camera supports 8K video recording at 30 fps along with slow-motion video, HDR10 recording, and continuous autofocus during video capture. For photos, it offers phase-detection autofocus, touch autofocus, burst mode, HDR mode, panorama, and timelapse, while manual controls cover exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance; manual shutter speed, optical zoom, laser autofocus, 360° panorama, RAW shooting, and 3D capture are not available. There is a single LED flash — neither dual-tone nor RGB — and no front-facing flash. The 32 MP single-lens front camera sits at f/2.5 and is positioned on the front face of the device rather than under the display.

The Asus ROG Phone 9 runs Android 15, a free and open-source platform that supports multi-user operation, split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, widgets, sharing intents, and the ability to play games while they download. Privacy tooling covers clipboard warnings, location privacy options, camera and microphone access controls, and app tracking blocking, though Mail Privacy Protection, cross-site tracking blocking, and Wi-Fi password sharing are absent. Customization options include theme customization, dynamic theming, dark mode, and an extra dim mode, while notification controls and customizable notifications give further flexibility over alerts. The OS also includes on-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, voice commands, Live Text, full-page screenshots, a media picker, battery health check, app offloading, phone tracking, and a child lock. Direct OS updates from the vendor are not supported, and focus modes and Quick Start are not available.

The Asus ROG Phone 9 houses a 5800 mAh rechargeable, non-removable battery with a built-in level indicator. It supports fast wired charging at 65W as well as wireless charging at 15W, and a charger is included in the box. Reverse wireless charging is not available.

The Asus ROG Phone 9 includes a 3.5 mm headphone jack, stereo speakers, and three microphones. On the wireless audio side, it supports aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, and aptX Lossless, covering a broad range of Bluetooth audio codec options; LDAC is not supported. The device does not include a built-in radio.

The Asus ROG Phone 9 supports 5G cellular connectivity alongside a dual SIM configuration, USB Type-C, NFC, and Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) — with backward compatibility across Wi-Fi 4, 5, 6, and 6E. Bluetooth 5.3 is on board, and the device reaches download speeds of up to 10,000 Mbit/s and upload speeds of up to 3,500 Mbit/s. There is no external memory slot, no HDMI output, and no DLNA certification. Onboard sensors include a fingerprint scanner, GPS with Galileo support, gyroscope, accelerometer, and compass, while a barometer, infrared sensor, heart rate monitor, ANT+ support, and motion or optical tracking are absent. Security biometrics are limited to the fingerprint scanner — 3D facial recognition and an iris scanner are not included — and no stylus, built-in projector, crash detection, or emergency satellite SOS is available.

The Asus ROG Phone 9 includes a video light for use during recording, while the display is flat rather than curved and uses neither sapphire glass nor an e-paper panel.
