The Biostar B850MT-E Pro is built around the AM5 socket with a B850 chipset and comes in a Micro-ATX form factor measuring 244 × 244 mm, making it a compact option for single-CPU builds. It supports overclocking and includes both a clear CMOS function and dual BIOS, which together simplify firmware recovery and system tuning. The board does not feature integrated graphics, an integrated CPU, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or RGB lighting, keeping the focus on core functionality. Video output is handled through an HDMI 2.1 connector, and the board is backed by a three-year warranty.
This board supports DDR5 memory across 4 slots in a dual-channel configuration, with a maximum capacity of 256 GB. Overclocked RAM speeds can reach up to 8000 MHz, offering headroom for performance-tuned memory kits. ECC memory is not supported.
The rear I/O panel offers a reasonable spread of USB connectivity, including one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port, four USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, and two USB 2.0 ports; higher-speed options such as USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, USB 4, Thunderbolt 3, and Thunderbolt 4 are not present. Display output is covered by an HDMI port and one DisplayPort, while VGA and DVI outputs are absent. Networking is handled by a single RJ45 port, and there are no eSATA or PS/2 ports on this board.
For internal expansion, the board provides three M.2 sockets alongside two SATA 3 connectors, with no SATA 2, mSATA, or U.2 sockets available. USB headers allow for additional front-panel connectivity through two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, two USB 3.0 ports, one USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port, and four USB 2.0 ports. Cooling is managed through three fan headers, and a TPM connector is also present for security module support.
The board carries two full-length PCIe slots: one PCIe 5.0 x16 and one PCIe 4.0 x16, covering the primary needs for discrete graphics or high-speed add-in cards. There are no PCIe 3.0, PCIe 2.0, PCIe x8, PCIe x4, PCIe x1, or legacy PCI slots present, keeping the expansion layout minimal in line with the Micro-ATX form factor.
Audio support extends to 7.1 channels, served through three analog connectors on the rear I/O. There is no S/PDIF output available on this board.
The board supports RAID 0 and RAID 1 configurations, covering basic striping for performance and mirroring for redundancy. RAID 5, RAID 10, and RAID 0+1 are not supported.
