Blackview BL8000 5G

The Blackview BL8000 5G is built with a rugged chassis and carries an IP68 waterproof rating, making it fully resistant to dust and water immersion. It measures 179.5 x 82.6 x 17 mm and weighs 385 g, with a total volume of 252.05 cm³, and is designed to operate across a wide temperature range from -40°C to 80°C — suited for use in both extreme cold and high-heat environments. The phone does not fold. Notably, it achieves a perfect French Repairability Index score of 10, indicating the highest rating for ease of repair under that framework.

The BL8000 5G features a 6.78-inch IPS LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 1080 x 2460 pixels and a pixel density of 396 ppi, delivering a sharp image across its large display area. The panel runs at a 120Hz refresh rate with a 240Hz touch sampling rate for responsive input, and is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 to guard against scratches and impact. HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and Always-On Display are not supported. The phone also includes a secondary screen with a 240 x 240 pixel resolution, providing quick access to information without waking the main display.

The Blackview BL8000 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset, built on a 6 nm process with a TDP of 5W and an eight-thread CPU layout using big.LITTLE technology — two performance cores at 2.6 GHz and six efficiency cores at 2 GHz. It is paired with 12GB of DDR5 RAM at 3200 MHz across four memory channels, with a maximum supported memory of 16GB, and 512GB of internal storage. The integrated Mali G68 MP4 GPU runs at 950 MHz with a turbo of 900 MHz and 64 shading units, supporting DirectX 12, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2. In benchmarks, the chipset scores 541000 on AnTuTu, 2257 in Geekbench 6 multi-core, and 936 in single-core, with an L3 cache of 2 MB. Security features include NX bit and TrustZone, and the SoC also integrates LTE and supports HMP for improved multi-core scheduling.

The BL8000 5G features a triple-lens rear camera system combining a 64MP primary lens at f/2, a 13MP lens at f/2.2, and a 2MP lens at f/2.4, with a CMOS sensor, optical image stabilization, and phase-detection autofocus for stills. Video recording reaches up to 4K at 30fps with continuous autofocus during capture, though slow-motion video and timelapse are not supported. Manual controls cover exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, and the camera also supports HDR mode, burst shooting, touch autofocus, and in-camera panoramas, though RAW capture, manual shutter speed, laser autofocus, and 360-degree panoramas are absent. The BL8000 5G runs on Android 13 and includes a broad set of privacy controls, covering clipboard warnings, location privacy options, camera and microphone access management, and the ability to block app tracking, though cross-site tracking blocking and Mail Privacy Protection are not available. On the usability side, the OS supports dark mode, dynamic theming, theme customization, extra dim mode, customizable notifications, a media picker, split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, widgets, full-page screenshots, and the ability to play games while they download. It also supports offline voice recognition and voice commands, on-device machine learning, live text selection from images, sharing intents, a child lock, multi-user mode, and phone tracking. Features not present include focus modes, Wi-Fi password sharing, battery health checks, app offloading, Quick Start, and the ability to function as a PC. OS updates are not delivered directly from the vendor, and the platform is noted as free and open source.

The BL8000 5G is equipped with a large 8800 mAh rechargeable battery that supports 33W fast charging, and a charger is included in the box. A battery level indicator is present for monitoring charge status. The battery is not removable, and wireless charging is not supported.

The BL8000 5G has a notably limited audio hardware setup — it does not include a 3.5mm headset jack or stereo speakers, and none of the advanced Bluetooth audio codecs are supported, including aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, and LDAC. The one audio-related feature present is a built-in radio.

The BL8000 5G supports 5G connectivity with dual SIM capability and reaches download speeds of up to 2770 Mbits/s and upload speeds of 1250 Mbits/s. Wi-Fi coverage spans Wi-Fi 4, 5, and 6 standards, and the phone connects wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC. Wired connectivity is handled through a USB Type-C port running on USB 2.0, with no external memory card slot or HDMI output available. Location is covered by GPS and Galileo satellite support, and onboard sensors include a gyroscope, accelerometer, and compass. Security relies on a fingerprint scanner, as 3D facial recognition and iris scanning are not present. Features such as crash detection, satellite SOS, ANT+, a heart rate monitor, barometer, infrared sensor, motion tracking, optical tracking, and a built-in projector are all absent.

The BL8000 5G includes a video light for illuminating subjects during video recording. The display is flat rather than curved, and neither sapphire glass nor an e-paper display are present.
