The Boult Audio Shadow follow an in-ear fit and operate as true wireless earbuds, meaning there are no cables or neckband involved. They carry an IPX5 ingress protection rating, classifying them as water resistant and suitable for use in light rain or during exercise. Stereo speakers are present, while there is no RGB lighting, UV light, wingtips, or any built-in display.
The Boult Audio Shadow use a 13 mm driver unit and cover a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz. Passive noise reduction is present, helping to block out ambient sound through the physical seal of the in-ear fit, though active noise cancellation is not supported. There is no neodymium magnet, and the earbuds do not support spatial audio, Dolby Atmos, or Dirac Virtuo.
The Boult Audio Shadow offer 7 hours of battery life per charge, with the included charging case extending the total to 28 hours. A full charge takes 1.5 hours, and the earbuds feature a rechargeable battery along with a battery level indicator. Wireless charging and solar power are not supported.
The Boult Audio Shadow connect wirelessly using Bluetooth 5.3, with a maximum quoted range of 10 m and an audio latency of 45 ms. Charging is handled via USB Type-C, though wireless charging is not available. The earbuds do not support fast pairing, NFC pairing, AAC, LDAC, LDHC, Auracast, or any variant of the aptX codec family, including aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Low Latency, aptX Lossless, and aptX Voice. Bluetooth LE Audio is also absent.
The Boult Audio Shadow support fast charging and can function as a headset, making them usable for calls in addition to music playback. Controls are placed on the device itself rather than an in-line panel, and voice prompts are available to guide the user during use. A mute function is also included, and a travel bag comes in the box. The earbuds do not offer ambient sound mode, in/on-ear detection, a find device feature, notification reading, a temperature sensor, or a built-in camera remote.
The Boult Audio Shadow feature a quad-microphone setup with noise cancellation, allowing the microphones to filter out background sound during calls and voice input.
