The Boult Audio Vortex uses an in-ear fit and is designed as a true wireless earbud, meaning there are no wires or cables between the earbuds or connecting them to a device. The earbuds include stereo speakers but do not feature wingtips for additional stability. There is no RGB lighting, UV light, or any display present on the earbuds or their case, keeping the overall design straightforward and free of extra visual embellishments.
The Boult Audio Vortex is equipped with a 13 mm driver unit and covers a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz. It supports spatial audio for a more immersive listening experience, while passive noise reduction helps limit ambient sound from the surrounding environment. Active noise cancellation is not available, nor are Dolby Atmos, Dirac Virtuo, or a neodymium magnet driver.
The Boult Audio Vortex offers 8 hours of battery life per charge, with the included charging case extending the total available playback to 52 hours. The earbuds have a rechargeable battery and a full charge is reached in approximately 1.5 hours. A battery level indicator is present to keep track of remaining power. Wireless charging and solar power are not supported.
The Boult Audio Vortex connects wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.4 with a maximum range of 10 meters and an audio latency of 45 ms. AAC codec is supported, while higher-end audio codecs including LDAC, LDHC, aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Low Latency, aptX Lossless, and aptX Voice are not available. The earbuds do not support fast pairing, NFC pairing, Bluetooth LE Audio, or Auracast. USB Type-C is used for wired charging, and the device can otherwise be used entirely wirelessly.
The Boult Audio Vortex supports fast charging and can function as a headset, with controls placed directly on the earbuds and voice prompts to assist with navigation. A mute function is also included, and a travel bag comes in the box for portability. The earbuds do not offer ambient sound mode, in-ear detection for auto-pausing, a find device feature, notification readout, an in-line control panel, a body temperature sensor, or a built-in camera remote.
The Boult Audio Vortex features a 4-microphone array with noise-canceling microphone support, helping to reduce unwanted background noise during calls and voice interactions.
