Coolpad C16

The Coolpad C16 has a standard, non-folding form factor with dimensions of 167.9 mm in height, 77.9 mm in width, and 8.7 mm in thickness, giving it a relatively slim profile for a device of its size. It weighs 215 g and occupies a volume of roughly 113.79 cm³. The phone does not feature a rugged build, and it carries no water resistance rating, meaning it offers no certified protection against moisture or dust exposure.

The Coolpad C16 uses a 6.75-inch LCD IPS touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1600 px and a pixel density of 260 ppi. It supports a 90Hz refresh rate paired with a 180Hz touch sampling rate, which contributes to smoother scrolling and more responsive touch input. The display does not include branded damage-resistant glass, and it lacks support for HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and Always-On Display functionality. There is no secondary screen on this device.

The Coolpad C16 is powered by the Unisoc T606 chipset, built on a 12nm process with an octa-core CPU running all cores at 1.6 GHz across two cluster configurations, using big.LITTLE architecture with HMP support for efficient task distribution. It comes with 4GB of DDR4 RAM at 1600 MHz and 256GB of eMMC 5.1 internal storage, with external memory expandable up to 1TB. The Mali G57 MP1 GPU runs at 650 MHz with 64 shading units and one execution unit, supporting DirectX 12, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2.0. Memory bandwidth reaches up to 12.8 GB/s, and the chip's maximum supported memory amount is 14GB. Cache configuration includes 128 KB of L1, 2 MB of L2, and 1 MB of L3 cache, while the TDP sits at 10W. Benchmark results include an AnTuTu score of 218,000, Geekbench 6 multi-core and single-core scores of 1,391 and 371 respectively, and a PassMark of 2,663. The SoC integrates LTE, TrustZone security, and 64-bit support.

The Coolpad C16 features a dual-lens rear camera system combining a 50MP main sensor with a 2MP secondary lens, both using a CMOS sensor without back-side illumination. Autofocus options include phase-detection and touch autofocus for photos, as well as continuous autofocus during video recording, though laser autofocus is not present. The rear setup supports HDR mode, burst shooting, slow-motion video recording, panorama, and a range of manual controls covering exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, while manual shutter speed, optical zoom, and RAW capture are not available. A single LED flash is included, with no dual-tone or RGB flash. On the front, an 8MP single-lens camera with an f/2 aperture handles selfies, though it lacks its own flash and is not positioned under the display. HDR10 and Dolby Vision recording are not supported, nor are 3D or 360-degree capture modes.

The Coolpad C16 runs Android 14, a free and open-source platform that supports multi-user accounts, split-screen multitasking, picture-in-picture, widgets, sharing intents, and the ability to play games while they are still downloading. Privacy controls are fairly broad, covering clipboard warnings, location access management, and camera and microphone permissions, though Mail Privacy Protection and cross-site tracking blocking are not included. On the customization side, the OS offers dark mode, dynamic theming, theme customization, extra dim mode, and customizable notifications, while focus modes and app offloading are not available. Additional features include a media picker, full-page screenshots, Live Text, battery health check, child lock, offline voice recognition, voice commands, and device position tracking. Direct OS updates from the vendor are not supported, and Quick Start and Wi-Fi password sharing are also absent.

The Coolpad C16 is equipped with a 5000 mAh rechargeable, non-removable battery that supports fast charging at up to 10W. A battery level indicator is present, giving users a clear read on remaining charge at a glance. Wireless charging is not supported, and the battery cannot be removed or replaced by the user.

The Coolpad C16 includes stereo speakers but omits a 3.5mm headphone jack, so wired audio requires an adapter or USB-C headphones. There is no built-in radio. On the wireless audio side, the device does not support aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC, meaning high-resolution and enhanced Bluetooth audio codecs are not available.

The Coolpad C16 supports Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) and Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and USB Type-C, with a cellular module offering download speeds of up to 300 Mbit/s and upload speeds of up to 100 Mbit/s, though 5G is not supported. The device accommodates a single SIM card and includes an external memory slot for expandable storage. For navigation, it features GPS with Galileo support alongside a compass, gyroscope, and accelerometer, while a barometer, infrared sensor, heart rate monitor, ANT+ support, and HDMI output are all absent. A fingerprint scanner handles biometric authentication, but 3D facial recognition and an iris scanner are not present, and no stylus is included. DLNA certification, satellite emergency SOS, crash detection, motion tracking, optical tracking, and a built-in projector are likewise not part of the feature set.

The Coolpad C16 includes a video light, which can be used to illuminate scenes during video recording. The display is flat rather than curved, uses neither sapphire glass nor e-paper technology, and is a standard panel without any of those specialized screen characteristics.
