It tips the scales at 208 g, which is relatively substantial for a smartphone of this size. The device does not feature a rugged build, meaning it carries no certified resistance against physical impacts or harsh environmental conditions.

The Coolpad Cool 30 Play uses an IPS LCD panel measuring 6.79″, rendering content at a resolution of 720 x 1640 pixels with a pixel density of 264 ppi. It supports touch input but lacks an Always-On Display mode and has no secondary screen. The display does not carry any branded damage-resistant glass, and advanced HDR standards — including HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision — are not supported.

The Coolpad Cool 30 Play is driven by the Mediatek Helio G99, a 6 nm chipset with an octa-core CPU configuration running two cores at 2.2 GHz and six at 2.0 GHz, supported by 8 threads, big.LITTLE architecture, and Heterogeneous Multi-Processing. The chip integrates LTE, ARM TrustZone security, and a Mali G57 GPU clocked at 950 MHz with a turbo frequency of 2133 MHz, 32 shading units, DirectX 11, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2 support across up to two displays. The device ships with 8 GB of DDR4 RAM running at 4266 MHz across two memory channels — with a maximum supported capacity of 12 GB — and 256 GB of eMMC 5.2 internal storage, delivering a maximum memory bandwidth of 17.1 GB/s. Benchmark results place it at 359,543 on AnTuTu, 722 single-core and 1964 multi-core on Geekbench 6, with the SoC operating at a TDP of 5W and a maximum CPU temperature of 95 °C.

The Coolpad Cool 30 Play features a dual-lens rear camera system led by a 64 MP main sensor paired with a 2 MP secondary lens, both using a CMOS sensor without back-side illumination. Autofocus is handled via phase-detection and touch AF during photography, with continuous autofocus available during video recording, though laser autofocus is absent. The main camera supports a broad manual control set covering exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, while burst mode, HDR, panorama, slow-motion video, and timelapse round out the feature list — raw capture and manual shutter speed are not available. Video recording tops out at 1080p at 30 fps, with no support for HDR10, Dolby Vision, or 3D recording, and a single LED flash — not dual-tone or RGB — accompanies the rear cameras. On the front, an 8 MP single-lens camera with an f/2 aperture handles selfies, positioned on the display bezel rather than under the screen, and has no dedicated flash.

The Coolpad Cool 30 Play runs Android 14, which brings a solid set of privacy and usability features including clipboard warnings, location privacy controls, and camera and microphone access management, though Mail Privacy Protection and cross-site tracking blocking are absent. On the personalization side, the OS supports dark mode, dynamic theming, theme customization, widgets, and customizable notifications, while focus modes and app offloading are not available. Productivity is aided by split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, full-page screenshots, a media picker, sharing intents, and the ability to play games while they download in the background. Privacy and security features extend to app tracking blocking, on-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, voice commands, phone tracking, child lock, battery health check, and multi-user support. OS updates do not come directly from the platform vendor, Wi-Fi password sharing is not supported, and Quick Start is also unavailable.

The Coolpad Cool 30 Play is equipped with a 5000 mAh non-removable rechargeable battery that supports 33W wired fast charging, with a charger included in the box. A battery level indicator is present, making it straightforward to monitor remaining charge at a glance. Wireless charging is not supported.

The Coolpad Cool 30 Play has a fairly limited audio setup — there is no 3.5 mm headphone jack and no stereo speaker configuration, meaning audio output is handled by a single speaker. On the wireless audio side, none of the high-quality Bluetooth codec options are supported, including aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, and LDAC. The device does, however, include a built-in radio tuner.

The Coolpad Cool 30 Play supports Wi-Fi 4 and Wi-Fi 5 (802.11n/ac) along with Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and a cellular module, though 5G is not available and the device accommodates only a single SIM card. Wired connectivity is handled via USB Type-C, while HDMI output is absent. Download speeds reach up to 650 Mbit/s and upload up to 150 Mbit/s. An external memory slot allows for storage expansion, and a fingerprint scanner is present for biometric authentication — 3D facial recognition and an iris scanner are not included. Location and navigation are covered by GPS with Galileo support, and onboard sensors include a gyroscope, accelerometer, and compass, while a barometer, infrared sensor, heart rate monitor, and ANT+ support are all absent. Crash detection, emergency SOS via satellite, DLNA certification, motion tracking, optical tracking, and a built-in projector are likewise not featured.

The Coolpad Cool 30 Play includes a video light, which can be used to illuminate scenes during video recording. The display is flat rather than curved, and neither sapphire glass nor an e-paper screen are part of the design.
