Cubot KingKong AX

The Cubot KingKong AX uses an IPS LCD panel measuring 6.58″ with a resolution of 1080 x 2408 px and a pixel density of 401 ppi, delivering a sharp and detailed image. The display supports a 120Hz refresh rate and responds to touch input, but does not include an Always-On Display mode or a secondary screen. It lacks support for HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision, and does not feature branded damage-resistant glass.

The Cubot KingKong AX is powered by the Mediatek Helio G99 chipset, built on a 6 nm process with an 8-thread CPU running at 2 x 2.2 GHz and 6 x 2 GHz using big.LITTLE technology with HMP support. It is paired with 12 GB of LPDDR4 RAM at 4266 MHz across 2 memory channels, offering a maximum memory bandwidth of 17.1 GB/s, and 256 GB of eMMC 5.2 internal storage. The Mali G57 GPU operates at 950 MHz with a turbo frequency of 2133 MHz, supports DirectX 11, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2, features 32 shading units, and can drive up to 2 displays simultaneously. The chipset includes integrated LTE, integrated graphics, and ARM TrustZone security, and carries a TDP of 5W with a rated CPU temperature ceiling of 95 °C. In benchmark testing, the device scores 416,900 on AnTuTu, 726 single-core and 2,034 multi-core on Geekbench 6, and 10,069 on PCMark Work 3.0 performance, with the PCMark battery test recording 519 minutes of endurance.

The Cubot KingKong AX features a dual-lens rear camera system combining a 100 MP and a 5 MP sensor, both using CMOS technology without a back-illuminated sensor. Autofocus options include phase-detection and touch autofocus for photos as well as continuous autofocus during video recording, though laser autofocus is absent. Manual controls cover exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, while manual shutter speed is not available. The rear camera supports HDR mode, burst shooting, slow-motion video recording, and in-camera panoramas, but does not shoot in RAW format, offer optical zoom, support 360° panoramas, HDR10 or Dolby Vision recording, or 3D capture. A single LED flash is present on the rear, with no dual-tone or RGB flash option. On the front, a 32 MP single-lens camera handles selfies without an accompanying LED flash or an under-display placement.

The Cubot KingKong AX runs Android 14, an open-source platform that supports multi-user operation, voice commands, offline voice recognition, on-device machine learning, and device tracking. Privacy controls are well represented, including clipboard warnings, location privacy options, and camera and microphone access management, though Mail Privacy Protection and cross-site tracking blocking are absent. Customization options include theme customization, dynamic theming, dark mode, an extra dim mode, home screen widgets, and customizable notifications, while focus modes and app offloading are not supported. Productivity features cover split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, full-page scrolling screenshots, Live Text selection, a media picker, sharing intents, and the ability to play games while they download. A child lock and battery health check are also present, whereas Wi-Fi password sharing, Quick Start, and the ability to function as a PC are not included. OS updates are not delivered directly from the vendor.

The Cubot KingKong AX houses a 5100 mAh rechargeable battery that supports 33W wired fast charging, with a charger included in the box. A battery level indicator is available for monitoring charge status. The battery is non-removable and does not support wireless charging.

The Cubot KingKong AX has a limited audio feature set according to the available specifications. It does not include a 3.5 mm headphone jack or stereo speakers, and on the wireless audio side it lacks support for aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, and LDAC codecs.

The Cubot KingKong AX supports dual SIM operation and connects wirelessly via Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) and Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC, though 5G is not supported. Cellular download speeds reach up to 650 Mbits/s with upload speeds of up to 150 Mbits/s. The device uses a USB Type-C port and includes an external memory slot for storage expansion, while HDMI output is not available. For positioning, it features GPS with Galileo support, and onboard sensors include a gyroscope, accelerometer, and compass; a barometer, infrared sensor, heart rate monitor, and ANT+ support are absent. Security is handled by a fingerprint scanner, with no 3D facial recognition or iris scanner present. The device does not include crash detection, emergency SOS via satellite, DLNA certification, motion or optical tracking, a built-in projector, or a stylus.

The Cubot KingKong AX includes a video light for illumination during video recording. The display is flat rather than curved and uses neither sapphire glass nor an e-paper panel.
