Cubot KingKong Star 2

The Cubot KingKong Star 2 is built with a rugged construction and carries an IP67 ingress protection rating, confirming full waterproof capability against dust and water immersion. The device measures 177.7 mm in height, 81.8 mm in width, and 13.5 mm in thickness, with a total volume of 196.23 cm³. At 305 g, it sits on the heavier side, which is typical for phones engineered with reinforced, durable builds. It does not feature a folding form factor, maintaining a traditional solid-body design throughout.

The Cubot KingKong Star 2 features a 6.72″ IPS LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a pixel density of 392 ppi, paired with a 144Hz refresh rate for smooth on-screen motion. The display is protected by branded damage-resistant glass and is complemented by a secondary screen, adding extra utility to the device. It does not support HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, or an Always-On Display mode.

The Cubot KingKong Star 2 is driven by the Mediatek Dimensity 8200 chipset, built on a 4nm process with an 8-thread CPU configuration running at speeds of 1 x 3.1 GHz, 3 x 3 GHz, and 4 x 2 GHz using big.LITTLE and HMP architectures. It is paired with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM at 6400 MHz, 256GB of internal storage, and supports up to 16GB of RAM across 4 memory channels with a maximum bandwidth of 51.2 GB/s. The Mali G610 MP6 GPU operates at 950 MHz, supports DirectX 12 and OpenCL 2, and handles integrated graphics duties with a TDP of 6W. Benchmark results place the device at an AnTuTu score of 990,100, a Geekbench 6 multi-core score of 3,891 and single-core score of 1,224, while Geekbench 5 returns 3,889 multi-core and 998 single-core. Additional platform features include integrated LTE, 64-bit support, NX bit, TrustZone, a 4MB L3 cache, and a TDP rated at 6W.

The Cubot KingKong Star 2 has a dual-lens rear camera system combining a 100MP primary sensor and a 5MP lens, both using a CMOS sensor without back-side illumination. Video recording tops out at 4K resolution at 30fps, and the camera supports continuous autofocus during recording, phase-detection autofocus for stills, touch autofocus, and slow-motion video, though laser autofocus is not included. Manual controls cover exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, while burst mode, HDR, in-camera panorama, and a single LED flash round out the feature set — optical zoom, dual-tone flash, RGB flash, RAW capture, and manual shutter speed are not available. On the front, a 32MP single-lens camera handles selfies without a dedicated LED flash or under-display placement. HDR10 recording, Dolby Vision recording, 360-degree panorama, and 3D photo or video capture are not supported on either camera.

The Cubot KingKong Star 2 runs Android 14 and includes a broad set of privacy controls, covering clipboard warnings, location privacy options, camera and microphone access management, and the ability to block app tracking, though cross-site tracking blocking and Mail Privacy Protection are not present. The interface supports theme customization, dynamic theming, dark mode, and an extra dim mode, while productivity features include split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, full-page screenshots, a media picker, customizable notifications, sharing intents, widgets, and the ability to play games while they download. On-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, voice commands, live text selection, phone tracking, a child lock, battery health check, and multi-user support are all included, whereas focus modes, Wi-Fi password sharing, app offloading, direct OS vendor updates, Quick Start, and PC mode are not available. The operating system is free and open source.

The Cubot KingKong Star 2 is equipped with a 5100 mAh rechargeable battery that supports 33W fast charging, with a charger included in the box. A battery level indicator is present for monitoring charge status. The battery is not removable, and wireless charging is not supported.

The Cubot KingKong Star 2 has a limited audio feature set based on the available specifications. It does not include a 3.5mm headphone jack or stereo speakers, and on the wireless audio side, it lacks support for aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, and LDAC.

The Cubot KingKong Star 2 supports 5G connectivity alongside dual SIM capability, Wi-Fi 4, 5, and 6, and Bluetooth 5.3, with download speeds reaching 4700 Mbits/s and upload speeds of 2500 Mbits/s. NFC, USB Type-C, and an external memory slot are all present, and the device includes a fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication, while 3D facial recognition and an iris scanner are not available. For positioning, it carries GPS, Galileo, and a compass, and its sensor suite covers a gyroscope and accelerometer, though a barometer, heart rate monitor, and infrared sensor are absent. ANT+, DLNA certification, HDMI output, motion tracking, optical tracking, satellite emergency SOS, crash detection, and a built-in projector are not supported, and no stylus is included.

The Cubot KingKong Star 2 includes a video light for illumination during video recording. The display is flat rather than curved and uses neither sapphire glass nor an e-paper panel.
