The Ducky ProjectD Tinker 65 is a compact 65% mechanical keyboard with a standard profile, connecting to a host system via USB at a 1000 Hz polling rate for wired use. It uses a gasket mount design and comes with a detachable cable, while not being specifically designed for Mac. Physically, it measures 320 mm wide, 125 mm deep, and 40 mm thick, with a weight of 590 g. The keyboard carries a one-year warranty.
The keyboard features a case built from a combination of aluminum and plastic, available in black, with an FR4 switch plate underneath. It includes a fully backlit layout with RGB lighting directed south-facing, and adjustable feet allow for some tilt customization. No wrist rest is included in the package.
The Ducky ProjectD Tinker 65 comes equipped with Cherry MX Red mechanical switches, which offer a linear feel with an actuation force of 46 g and a total travel distance of 4 mm. The board supports hot-swappable switches, meaning the switches can be replaced without soldering directly on the PCB.
The Tinker 65 supports QMK and VIA, giving users a straightforward path to remapping keys and customizing firmware behavior. It also includes N-key rollover (NKRO), ensuring every simultaneous keypress is registered accurately. The board does not offer analog input, rapid trigger, dual actuation, adjustable actuation, USB passthrough, ZMK support, or an onboard display.
The Tinker 65 uses a standard ANSI (United States) layout with PBT double-shot keycaps in the Cherry profile, and the key arrangement follows a standard layout without any non-standard sizing that would complicate keycap replacement. Media functions are accessible via the Fn key rather than dedicated keys, and there is no rotary dial on the board.
