The Energy Sistem OpenWave feature an open-ear fit and are fully wireless, with no cables or neckband involved. Wingtips are included to help keep the earbuds in place during use. They carry an IPX5 ingress protection rating, making them sweat resistant — suitable for active use. Stereo speakers are built in, and the overall form factor is a compact, wire-free design without a neckband.
The OpenWave cover a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, spanning the full standard range of human hearing. The earbuds do not include active noise cancellation (ANC) or passive noise reduction, meaning environmental sound passes through freely — which aligns with their open-ear design. There is no neodymium magnet in the driver configuration.
The OpenWave are equipped with a rechargeable battery that provides 8 hours of playback per charge, with the charging case contributing an additional 17 hours for a combined total of 25 hours. A full charge takes 1.5 hours, and a battery level indicator is included so users can monitor remaining power. Wireless charging is not supported.
The OpenWave connect wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.3 with a maximum range of 10 meters, and use USB Type-C for wired charging. Neither fast pairing nor NFC pairing is supported. On the codec side, the earbuds do not include AAC, LDAC, LDHC, aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Low Latency, aptX Lossless, or aptX Voice, meaning audio is transmitted using the standard SBC codec by default.
The OpenWave support fast charging and can be used as a headset, with a mute function available during calls. Controls are handled via a panel placed on the earbuds themselves — there is no in-line control panel on a cable. Voice prompts are included to assist with device feedback, and a travel bag comes in the box. The earbuds do not feature ambient sound mode, in/on-ear detection for auto-pause, a find device function, or a body temperature sensor.
The OpenWave include a noise-canceling microphone, which helps reduce unwanted background sound when taking calls or using the earbuds as a headset.
