The Fujifilm X-M5 is a mirrorless system camera with a compact footprint, measuring 112 × 67 × 38 mm and weighing 355 g. Its 3″ flip-out touchscreen resolves at 1040k dots, offering flexible framing from various angles. A hot shoe is present for attaching external flash units, though the camera has no built-in flash. The body is not weather-sealed, and its rated operating temperature range runs from 0 °C to 40 °C. Overall volume sits at 285.152 cm³, keeping the physical profile relatively restrained for an interchangeable-lens camera.
The X-M5 uses an APS-C-format 26.1 MP stacked back-illuminated CMOS sensor paired with the Fujifilm X lens mount, delivering a native maximum ISO of 12800 that can be expanded to 51200. The mechanical shutter reaches a fastest speed of 1/4000 s (0.00025 s), while the electronic shutter pushes to 1/32000 s (3.125E-5 s), and long exposures extend up to 30 s. Continuous mechanical shooting is available at 8 fps with burst mode, and the autofocus system includes phase-detection, AF tracking, and touch AF for flexible subject acquisition. Manual control is fully supported across focus, shutter speed, ISO, exposure, and white balance, and a two-stage shutter and built-in HDR mode are also on board. The camera does not include sensor-shift optical image stabilization.
The X-M5 records video at up to 4160-wide resolution and 30 fps with a 200 Mbps bitrate, and also offers a 24p cinema mode alongside slow-motion video recording. Autofocus during video capture is handled by phase-detection with continuous AF active throughout recording. For audio, the camera includes a three-element built-in stereo microphone as well as a dedicated 3.5 mm microphone input, giving users the option to connect an external microphone for improved sound capture.
The X-M5 is powered by a removable, rechargeable 1260 mAh battery with a CIPA-rated life of 330 shots per charge. A battery level indicator is built in, allowing users to monitor remaining power during use.
The X-M5 is built around the X-Processor 5 and supports both Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) and Bluetooth 5.2, enabling remote smartphone control for wireless operation. It shoots in raw format with lossless compressed raw also supported, and output options include HDMI and USB Type-C alongside an external memory slot for storage expansion. The camera does not include dual card slots, NFC, GPS, or an advanced hot shoe.
The X-M5 features a USB 3.2 connection, supporting faster data transfer when offloading files to a computer.
