Garmin Fenix 8 AMOLED 43mm

The Garmin Fenix 8 AMOLED 43mm measures 43 x 43mm with a thickness of 13.8mm and weighs 66g, making it a compact yet substantial wrist-worn device. Its 1.3″ AMOLED touchscreen delivers a resolution of 416 x 416 pixels at 452 ppi, and supports an always-on display mode for continuous readability. The watch is rated waterproof at 10 ATM and features branded damage-resistant glass, though it does not use sapphire glass. The band is replaceable and measures 20mm in width, and the total volume of the unit comes to 25.5162 cm³.

The watch includes a broad set of built-in sensors to support a wide range of activities and health monitoring. GPS is built in alongside a heart rate monitor, pulse oximeter for blood oxygenation tracking, body temperature sensor, barometer, compass, accelerometer, gyroscope, and a wind speed sensor. It does not include a cadence sensor or a perspiration monitor.

The Garmin Fenix 8 AMOLED 43mm offers a comprehensive multi-sport tracking suite that covers route tracking, distance, pace, elevation, and step counting, along with automatic activity detection and exercise tagging. It includes trackback mode, a swim stroke counter, and is specifically designed for both diving and golf. On the wellness side, it tracks sleep with detailed sleep reports and monitors calorie intake, rounding out a well-rounded set of daily and sport-focused activity tracking capabilities.

The watch is compatible with both iOS and Android devices and connects wirelessly via Wi-Fi, NFC, and ANT+, covering a range of wireless accessory and payment use cases. It does not include a cellular module, so an independent mobile connection is not supported.

The watch runs on a built-in rechargeable battery that is not removable and does not support wireless or solar charging. Battery life reaches 10 days in standard use, while GPS-active sessions last up to 28 hours and training mode extends to 21 hours before requiring a charge.

On the health monitoring side, the watch tracks HRV, VO2 max, and resting heart rate, and delivers fast/slow heart rate notifications, irregular heart rate warnings, fall detection, and a readiness and recovery indicator. Navigation is supported through map uploading, fast GPS lock, and Galileo satellite compatibility. For everyday use, it provides wrist notifications, call control, the ability to answer calls via a built-in microphone, vibrating alerts, silent alarm, stopwatch, phone finder, sunrise/sunset times, and thunderstorm risk alerts. It comes with 32GB of internal storage and carries a 1-year warranty. Smart alarm, voice commands, and camera remote control are not included.

The companion app is free and ad-free, and requires an account to use. It covers a wide range of tracking features including activity reports, calories burned, weight, BMI, water intake, and temperature, along with inactivity alerts and goal setting. Wellness and reproductive health are also addressed through period notifications, fertile window alerts, ovulation predictions, and start date forecasting. For training, the app offers coaching, an exercise diary, live tracking, route and map support, voice feedback, music playback, and calendar syncing. It supports widgets, app personalisation, video tutorials, and achievements, but does not include a barcode scanner.

The watch includes a battery level indicator and supports auto pause during workouts. It is compatible with Windows, Mac OS X, and is available on PC, and works alongside external heart rate monitors and smart scales. There is no external memory slot and no 3.5mm audio jack.
