The Gigabyte X870 Gaming X WiFi7 is built around the AM5 socket and X870 chipset, using a standard ATX form factor measuring 305 mm by 244 mm. It supports the full range of modern wireless standards through its built-in Wi-Fi, spanning Wi-Fi 4 through Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be), and pairs that with Bluetooth 5.4, though aptX audio codec support is not included. A single HDMI 2.1 output is available for display use, and the board supports overclocking, while features such as RGB lighting, dual BIOS, and easy CMOS reset are absent. There is no integrated CPU or integrated graphics, and the board accommodates one processor. A three-year warranty is provided.
The board uses DDR5 memory across four slots arranged in a dual-channel configuration, with a maximum supported capacity of 256 GB. Native RAM speed tops out at 5200 MHz, while overclocking can push that figure up to 8000 MHz. ECC memory is not supported.
The rear panel offers a varied selection of USB ports, including two USB 4 40Gbps ports and two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port, three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, and four USB 2.0 ports; USB Type-C is present, while USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, Gen 1 Type-C, Gen 2x2, and USB 4 20Gbps ports are not. For display output, a single HDMI port is available, with no DisplayPort, DVI, or VGA connectors present. Networking is handled by one RJ45 port, and there are no eSATA or PS/2 ports.
Internal connectivity includes three M.2 sockets and four SATA 3 connectors for storage, while SATA 2, U.2, and mSATA connections are absent. USB expansion headers provide two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, two additional USB 3.0 ports, one USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 port, and four USB 2.0 ports through internal connectors. The board also features six fan headers and a TPM connector.
Expansion is built around a single PCIe 5.0 x16 slot for the primary add-in card, complemented by two PCIe x1 slots for smaller peripherals. There are no PCIe 4.0, 3.0, 2.0, x4, or x8 slots, and no legacy PCI slots are present.
The board supports 7.1-channel audio output through three analog audio connectors on the rear panel. An S/PDIF Out port is not included.
The board supports RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 configurations for storage arrays, while RAID 0+1 is not supported.
