HMD Pulse Pro

The HMD Pulse Pro has a standard candy-bar form factor — it neither folds nor features a rugged build — measuring 163.2 mm tall, 75 mm wide, and 8.6 mm thick, with a total volume of 105.264 cm³. It weighs 196 g and carries an IP52 rating, meaning it offers basic protection against dust contact and light water splashes, though it is not designed for submersion or harsh environments.

The HMD Pulse Pro features a 6.65″ IPS LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1612 pixels at 265 ppi, paired with a 90Hz refresh rate and a typical brightness of 480 nits. The display does not include branded damage-resistant glass, and it lacks support for HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and Always-On Display functionality, nor does it have a secondary screen.

The HMD Pulse Pro is driven by the Unisoc T606 chipset, built on a 12 nm process with an 8-thread CPU running at 2 x 1.6 GHz and 6 x 1.6 GHz using big.LITTLE and HMP technology, alongside a Mali G57 MP1 GPU clocked at 650 MHz with 64 shading units and support for DirectX 12, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2.0. The SoC integrates LTE, TrustZone security, and graphics, and is paired with 8GB of LPDDR4 RAM at 1600 MHz — with a maximum supported memory amount of 14GB — and 128GB of eMMC 5.1 internal storage, delivering a maximum memory bandwidth of 12.8 GB/s. Cache configuration includes 128 KB L1, 2 MB L2, and 1 MB L3, while the chip operates within a 10W TDP envelope. In benchmarks, the device scores 1391 multi-core and 371 single-core in Geekbench 6, 1175 and 313 respectively in Geekbench 5, a PassMark of 2663 (single-core 988), a PCMark Work 3.0 performance score of 8070, and a PCMark battery result of 762 minutes.

The HMD Pulse Pro features a dual-lens rear camera system combining 50 MP and 2 MP sensors, using a CMOS sensor without back-side illumination, and capable of recording video at 1080p 30fps. Autofocus options include phase-detection and touch autofocus as well as continuous autofocus during video recording, though laser autofocus is not present, and there is no optical image stabilization or optical zoom. Manual controls cover exposure, focus, and white balance, while shooting modes include HDR, burst, and in-camera panorama — however, slow-motion recording, timelapse, RAW capture, manual shutter speed, 360° panorama, HDR10 or Dolby Vision recording, and 3D capture are all absent. The rear flash uses two LED units in a single tone rather than dual-tone or RGB configuration. On the front, a single-lens 50 MP camera is mounted in the standard position above the display — without an under-display placement or a front-facing flash — and handles a single-lens setup without HDR10 or Dolby Vision recording support.

The HMD Pulse Pro runs Android 14 and includes a solid range of privacy controls, covering clipboard warnings, location privacy options, camera and microphone access management, and the ability to block app tracking — though cross-site tracking blocking and Mail Privacy Protection are not present. Customization options include theme customization, dynamic theming, dark mode, extra dim mode, widgets, and customizable notifications, while usability features extend to split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, full-page screenshots, a media picker, sharing intents, Live Text, and the ability to play games while they download. The device supports multi-user accounts, a child lock, phone tracking, on-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, and voice commands, and also includes a battery health check tool. OS updates do not come directly from the vendor, and features such as focus modes, Wi-Fi password sharing, app offloading, Quick Start, and PC mode are not available.

The HMD Pulse Pro is equipped with a 5000 mAh rechargeable battery that supports 20W fast charging, and a charger is included in the box. A battery level indicator is present, making it straightforward to monitor remaining charge. The battery is not removable and wireless charging is not supported.

The HMD Pulse Pro includes a 3.5 mm headphone jack for wired audio and has a single microphone. Speaker output is mono, as stereo speakers are not present, and there is no built-in radio. On the wireless audio side, none of the advanced Bluetooth codecs are supported — aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, and LDAC are all absent.

The HMD Pulse Pro supports Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) and Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), Bluetooth 5.0, and NFC, while cellular connectivity is limited to LTE — 5G is not supported. The device accepts a single SIM card and offers a USB Type-C port running at USB 2.0 speeds, along with an external memory slot for storage expansion, though HDMI output and DLNA certification are absent. Maximum download and upload speeds reach 300 Mbit/s and 100 Mbit/s respectively. Location capabilities include GPS with Galileo support and a compass, while onboard sensors cover an accelerometer and a fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication; a gyroscope, barometer, heart rate monitor, infrared sensor, and ANT+ are not included. Advanced biometric options such as 3D facial recognition and an iris scanner are also not present, and no stylus, built-in projector, or motion and optical tracking features are available.

The HMD Pulse Pro includes a video light for use during video recording. The display is flat rather than curved, uses neither sapphire glass nor an e-paper panel.
