HMD Vibe 5G

The HMD Vibe 5G has a conventional, non-folding design with a water-resistant build and a slim profile measuring 8.7 mm thick, 75.8 mm wide, and 165 mm tall, with a total volume of 108.81 cm³. It weighs 190 g and does not feature a rugged construction, placing it in the standard consumer smartphone category rather than the toughened device segment.

The HMD Vibe 5G features a 6.67″ IPS LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1604 px and a pixel density of 264 ppi, paired with a 90 Hz refresh rate for smoother on-screen motion. The display does not support HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, or an Always-On Display mode, and it lacks branded damage-resistant glass as well as a secondary screen.

The HMD Vibe 5G is powered by the Unisoc Tanggula T760 system-on-chip, built on a 7 nm process and configured as an octa-core processor using big.LITTLE technology with four cores clocked at 2.2 GHz and four at 1.8 GHz across 8 threads. It comes with 4 GB of DDR4 RAM running at 2133 MHz across two memory channels, and 128 GB of internal storage that can be expanded by up to 512 GB externally. Graphics are handled by the integrated Mali-G57 GPU with a turbo frequency of 650 MHz, supporting DirectX 12, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2.0. The chipset also includes integrated LTE, TrustZone security, and 64-bit support, while ECC memory is not supported. Geekbench 5 scores stand at 541 for single-core and 2155 for multi-core performance.

The HMD Vibe 5G features a dual-lens rear camera system combining a 50 MP and a 2 MP sensor, using a CMOS sensor without back-side illumination and lacking optical image stabilization or optical zoom. Autofocus options include phase-detection and touch autofocus, as well as continuous autofocus during video recording, though laser autofocus is not present. Manual controls cover exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, while manual shutter speed is not available. The main camera records video at 1080p and 30 fps with slow-motion support, but does not support HDR10 or Dolby Vision recording. A single LED flash is included, with no dual-tone or RGB flash option. The camera also supports HDR mode and in-camera panoramas, but cannot shoot in RAW format or capture 360-degree panoramas. On the front, an 8 MP single-lens camera is housed in a standard position above the display, without a front-facing flash or under-display placement.

The HMD Vibe 5G runs Android 15 and includes a broad set of privacy controls, among them clipboard warnings, location privacy options, camera and microphone access management, and the ability to block app tracking, though cross-site tracking blocking and Mail Privacy Protection are absent. On the usability side, it supports dark mode, dynamic and manual theme customization, customizable notifications, a media picker, full-page scrolling screenshots, split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, widgets, and the ability to play games while they download. The OS also features on-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, voice commands, Live Text for selecting text from images, multi-user support, device tracking, a child lock, app offloading, sharing intents, a battery health check, and an extra dim display mode. Wi-Fi password sharing, focus modes, Quick Start, and the ability to use the device as a PC are not supported, and OS updates are not delivered directly from the vendor.

The HMD Vibe 5G is equipped with a 5000 mAh rechargeable battery that supports 18 W fast charging, and a charger is included in the box. A battery level indicator is present for monitoring charge status. The battery is not removable, and the device does not support wireless charging or reverse wireless charging.

The HMD Vibe 5G includes stereo speakers and a single microphone, but does not have a 3.5 mm headphone jack or a built-in radio. Wireless audio codec support is absent across the board, with no aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC available.

The HMD Vibe 5G supports 5G connectivity alongside Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) and Bluetooth 5.2, and accommodates two SIM cards. It connects via a USB Type-C port running USB 2.0 and includes an external memory slot for expandable storage. For positioning, the device has GPS and Galileo support, while a compass, gyroscope, and barometer are absent. The built-in sensors include an accelerometer, and a fingerprint scanner handles biometric authentication; 3D facial recognition and an iris scanner are not present. NFC is not supported, nor are ANT+, DLNA certification, HDMI output, infrared sensor, heart rate monitor, crash detection, satellite SOS, motion or optical tracking, or a built-in projector. A stylus is also not included.

The HMD Vibe 5G includes a video light for use during video recording, while its display is flat and standard in nature, with no curved panel, sapphire glass, or e-paper screen.
