Honor 90 Smart 5G

The device does not feature a rugged build and carries no water resistance rating. Repairability is rated at just 1 out of 10 on the French Repairability Index, indicating limited serviceability.

The Honor 90 Smart 5G features a 6.8-inch IPS LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 1080×2412 pixels and a pixel density of 389 ppi, offering a reasonably sharp visual experience. The panel runs at a 90Hz refresh rate, which contributes to smoother on-screen motion. The display does not support HDR10, HDR10+, or Dolby Vision, and there is no Always-On Display mode or secondary screen. It also lacks branded damage-resistant glass.

The Honor 90 Smart 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6020 chipset, fabricated on a 7nm process, with an octa-core CPU arrangement running two cores at 2.2 GHz and six cores at 2.0 GHz using big.LITTLE technology, supported by 8 threads and multithreading capability. Graphics are handled by the Mali-G57 MP2 GPU clocked at 950 MHz, with integrated graphics on the SoC alongside integrated LTE. The device ships with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM running at 2133 MHz, offering a maximum memory bandwidth of 17.07 GB/s and support for up to 16GB, paired with 128GB of internal storage. The processor supports 64-bit computing and includes a cache hierarchy of 512 KB L1, 1 MB L2, and 2 MB L3 cache.

The Honor 90 Smart 5G sports a triple-lens rear camera system led by a 108MP primary CMOS sensor, accompanied by two 2MP lenses, though optical image stabilization and optical zoom are absent. The rear setup supports a solid range of manual controls including exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, along with phase-detection autofocus, touch autofocus, continuous autofocus during video, burst mode, HDR, slow-motion recording, and in-camera panoramas. Video recording is capped at 1080p at 30fps, with no support for HDR10 or Dolby Vision recording. A single LED flash is present on the rear, while the front camera offers 8MP resolution with an f/2 aperture and is a single-lens unit with no front-facing flash. The Honor 90 Smart 5G runs Android 13 and comes with a broad set of software features covering both usability and privacy. On the privacy side, it offers clipboard warnings, location privacy options, camera and microphone access controls, and the ability to block app tracking, though cross-site tracking blocking and Mail Privacy Protection are not included. The interface supports dynamic theming, theme customization, dark mode, an extra dim mode, widgets, and customizable notifications, while focus modes and app offloading are absent. Productivity-oriented features include split-screen multitasking, picture-in-picture, full-page screenshots, a media picker, sharing intents, and the ability to play games while they download. The device also supports offline voice recognition, voice commands, on-device machine learning, multi-user accounts, a child lock, phone tracking, and Live Text for selecting text in images. Direct OS updates from the vendor are not available, and Quick Start and Wi-Fi password sharing are likewise not supported.

The Honor 90 Smart 5G is equipped with a 5330 mAh non-removable rechargeable battery, providing a sizeable capacity for a device in this category. It supports 35W fast charging, and a charger is included in the box, which is a practical inclusion. A battery level indicator is present for monitoring charge status. Wireless charging, however, is not supported.

The Honor 90 Smart 5G includes a 3.5mm headphone jack and stereo speakers, covering the basics for wired audio and built-in playback. On the wireless audio side, the device does not support any high-quality Bluetooth codec — aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, and LDAC are all absent. There is no built-in radio either.

The Honor 90 Smart 5G offers a well-rounded connectivity package, including 5G support, Wi-Fi 4 and Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, and a USB Type-C port running on USB 2.0. It accommodates two SIM cards and supports download speeds of up to 2770 Mbit/s and upload speeds of up to 1250 Mbit/s, though there is no external memory slot. For positioning, the device includes GPS with Galileo support and a compass, while an accelerometer is present among the onboard sensors; a gyroscope, barometer, and infrared sensor are not included. Security is handled via a fingerprint scanner, with no 3D facial recognition or iris scanner available. Features such as satellite emergency SOS, crash detection, HDMI output, ANT+, heart rate monitoring, motion tracking, optical tracking, DLNA certification, and a built-in projector are all absent.

The Honor 90 Smart 5G includes a video light, which can be used to illuminate scenes during video recording. The display is flat rather than curved and uses neither sapphire glass nor an e-paper panel.
