The Hotwav R7 is built with a rugged chassis designed to withstand tough environments, carrying an IP68 ingress protection rating that certifies it as waterproof to a depth of 1.5 meters. Its physical dimensions come in at 168.5 × 252.5 mm with a thickness of 15.5 mm, and the device weighs 960 g — consistent with the reinforced construction of ruggedized hardware. The total volume sits at approximately 659.47 cm³. The tablet does not include a stylus, detachable keyboard, backlit keyboard, or pen tilt sensitivity support.
The Hotwav R7 features a 10.1″ IPS LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 1280 × 800 px and a pixel density of 149 ppi. The display does not include branded damage-resistant glass, an anti-reflection coating, or sapphire glass, and it does not support HDR10, HDR10+, or Dolby Vision. It is also not an e-paper panel.
The Hotwav R7 is driven by the Unisoc T606 chipset, built on a 12 nm process with an 8-thread CPU running at 2 × 1.6 GHz and 6 × 1.6 GHz using big.LITTLE and HMP technology, paired with 6 GB of DDR4 RAM at 1600 MHz and a maximum memory ceiling of 14 GB. The Mali G57 MP1 GPU runs at 650 MHz with a turbo frequency also at 650 MHz, 64 shading units, 1 execution unit, and supports DirectX 12, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2. Internal storage stands at 256 GB via eMMC 5.1, expandable up to 2 TB through an external memory slot, while maximum memory bandwidth reaches 12.8 GB/s. Cache configuration includes 128 KB L1, 2 MB L2, and 1 MB L3, with a TDP of 10 W. The chipset integrates LTE and supports TrustZone security, and the device ships with Android 13. Benchmark results include a Geekbench 6 multi-core score of 1391, a single-core score of 371, a PassMark score of 2663, and a PassMark single-core score of 988.
The Hotwav R7 features a 16 MP rear camera with a CMOS sensor, an aperture of f/2.0, and a single LED flash, capable of recording video at 1080p at 30 fps. It supports touch autofocus, continuous autofocus during video recording, HDR mode, and a range of manual controls including ISO, focus, exposure, and white balance, though manual shutter speed is not available. The front camera also offers 16 MP with an aperture of f/2.2 and includes a video light, but does not have a front-facing LED flash. Neither optical zoom nor optical image stabilization is present, and the camera lacks slow-motion recording, timelapse, panorama, burst mode, 360° panorama, dual-tone or RGB flash, HDR10 recording, Dolby Vision recording, BSI sensor, and 3D capture capabilities.
The Hotwav R7 includes stereo speakers for audio output, but does not have a 3.5 mm headphone jack or a built-in radio. On the wireless audio side, none of the advanced Bluetooth codec options are supported, meaning aptX, aptX HD, aptX Low Latency, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, and LDAC are all absent.
The Hotwav R7 is equipped with a 15600 mAh rechargeable battery that includes a battery level indicator for monitoring charge status. The battery is non-removable and does not support wireless charging.
The Hotwav R7 supports Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) and Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) alongside Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS with Galileo support, and a USB Type-C port running USB 2.0, with download speeds up to 300 Mbit/s and upload speeds up to 100 Mbit/s. It accommodates dual SIM cards but does not include a cellular module, meaning it lacks 4G or 5G connectivity, and there is no HDMI output, Ethernet support, fingerprint scanner, infrared sensor, barometer, built-in projector, or iris scanner. Sensors on board include a gyroscope, accelerometer, and compass, and the device supports offline voice recognition, voice commands, and mobile position tracking. On the software side, the R7 offers a range of privacy and usability features including location privacy options, camera and microphone access controls, app tracking blocking, clipboard warnings, and on-device machine learning, though Mail Privacy Protection, cross-site tracking blocking, and direct OS vendor updates are not present. Multi-user support, split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, full-page screenshots, dark mode, dynamic theming, theme customization, widgets, media picker, customizable notifications, extra dim mode, sharing intents, live text selection, and the ability to play games while downloading are all supported, while Quick Start, app offloading, focus modes, Wi-Fi password sharing, and battery health check are not available.
The Hotwav R7 uses DDR4 memory and recorded Geekbench 5 scores of 1175 in the multi-core test and 313 in the single-core test.
