It is also not an e-paper display.
The Hotwav R8 is powered by the Unisoc T606 chipset, built on a 12 nm process with an 8-thread CPU running at 1.6 GHz across all cores in a big.LITTLE HMP configuration, and a 10W TDP. It comes with 4 GB of RAM at 1600 MHz and 128 GB of eMMC 5.1 internal storage, with external memory expansion supported up to 2 TB; the maximum addressable memory amount is 14 GB at a bandwidth of 12.8 GB/s. Graphics are handled by the integrated Mali G57 MP1 GPU, clocked at 650 MHz with 64 shading units and one execution unit, supporting DirectX 12, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2. The chipset also includes integrated LTE and ARM TrustZone security. Cache configuration consists of 128 KB L1, 2 MB L2, and 1 MB L3. In benchmark testing, the device scores 371 single-core and 1391 multi-core in Geekbench 6, and 988 single-core and 2663 overall in PassMark. The tablet runs Android 14 and supports 64-bit computing.
The Hotwav R8 carries a 16 MP rear camera with a CMOS sensor, an f/2 aperture, and no optical zoom, capable of recording video at 1080p and 30 fps. Manual controls include ISO, focus, exposure, and white balance, while touch autofocus and continuous autofocus during video recording are also supported. A single LED flash and a video light are present, though there is no dual-tone or RGB flash and no front-facing flash. On the front, a 16 MP camera is available without a dedicated flash.
The Hotwav R8 has a notably limited audio configuration: it does not include a 3.5 mm headphone jack, stereo speakers, a built-in radio, or any microphones. Wireless audio codec support is equally absent, with no aptX, aptX HD, aptX Low Latency, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC being available for Bluetooth audio transmission.
The Hotwav R8 houses a 10800 mAh rechargeable battery that supports fast charging and includes a battery level indicator. The battery is non-removable and does not support wireless charging.
The Hotwav R8 supports Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) and Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) alongside Bluetooth 5.1, and includes a cellular module with dual SIM card support, download speeds of up to 300 Mbit/s and upload speeds of up to 100 Mbit/s, though 5G is not available. Connectivity hardware includes a USB Type-C port running USB 2.0, while HDMI output, NFC, Ethernet, and an infrared sensor are absent. For navigation, the tablet includes GPS, a compass, a gyroscope, an accelerometer, and Galileo satellite support, but no barometer. Biometric security options are limited, as there is no fingerprint scanner, iris scanner, or 3D facial recognition.
