The Huawei FreeBuds 6i use an in-ear fit and a true wireless design with no cables or neckband, and wingtips are not included. Each earbud weighs 10.8 g and features stereo speakers for a full audio output. On the durability side, they carry an IP54 ingress protection rating, offering resistance to sweat, though they do not include RGB lighting.
The FreeBuds 6i support both active noise cancellation and passive noise reduction, giving listeners two layers of sound isolation. Audio is handled by an 11 mm driver unit with an impedance of 5 Ohms and a frequency range spanning 14 Hz to 40,000 Hz, covering a wide audible and beyond-audible spectrum. Spatial audio is also supported, adding a dimensional quality to playback, while a neodymium magnet is not part of the driver configuration.
The FreeBuds 6i house a 55 mAh rechargeable battery in each earbud, delivering up to 8 hours of playback or 5 hours with active noise cancellation enabled. The accompanying charging case holds a 510 mAh battery, extending total listening time to 27 hours combined. A full charge takes 1 hour, and a battery level indicator is included to keep track of remaining power. Wireless charging is not supported, so the case relies solely on wired charging.
The FreeBuds 6i connect wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.3 with a maximum range of 10 m, and support AAC and LDAC codecs for audio transmission. LDHC, NFC pairing, and fast pairing are not supported, nor are any aptX variants including aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Low Latency, aptX Lossless, or aptX Voice. The charging case uses a USB Type-C port for wired charging, and the earbuds can be used fully wirelessly during playback.
The FreeBuds 6i come with a practical set of features, including ambient sound mode, in/on-ear detection for automatic playback pausing, and a find device function for locating misplaced earbuds. They support multipoint connection across two devices simultaneously, fast charging, a mute function, and can be used as a headset for calls. Controls are handled through a panel on the device itself rather than an in-line panel, and voice prompts are available for audio feedback. A temperature sensor is not included. A travel bag is bundled in the box for portability.
The FreeBuds 6i feature a 6-microphone array paired with noise-canceling microphone technology, helping to reduce background noise during calls and voice input.
