The Huawei FreeBuds SE 3 adopt a standard earbud fit and are fully wireless, with no neckband or wingtip attachments included. Each earbud weighs just 7.6 grams and features stereo speakers, keeping the physical design compact and unobtrusive. For durability, the earbuds carry an IP54 ingress protection rating, making them sweat resistant — though they do not include RGB lighting, a UV light, or any built-in display.
The FreeBuds SE 3 use a 10 mm driver unit and cover a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, spanning the full standard audible spectrum. The earbuds do not include active noise cancellation, passive noise reduction, or a neodymium magnet, and there is no support for spatial audio, Dolby Atmos, or Dirac Virtuo audio processing.
The FreeBuds SE 3 offer 9 hours of battery life per charge from a 41 mAh cell, and when combined with the 510 mAh charging case, total playback time extends to 33 hours. A full charge takes 1.5 hours, and the earbuds support a rechargeable battery with a built-in battery level indicator to keep track of remaining power. Wireless charging and solar battery charging are not supported.
The FreeBuds SE 3 connect wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.4 with a maximum range of 10 meters, and support the AAC codec for audio transmission. Wired charging is handled through a USB Type-C port, though NFC pairing and fast pairing are not available. On the codec side, the earbuds do not support LDAC, LDHC, aptX in any of its variants, Bluetooth LE Audio, or Auracast.
The FreeBuds SE 3 include a practical set of features for everyday use, with fast charging support, a find device function, a mute option, and voice prompts built in. They can be used as a headset for calls, and controls are accessible through a device-side control panel rather than an in-line panel on the cable. A travel bag is included in the box. The earbuds do not offer ambient sound mode, in/on-ear detection for auto-pause, notification reading, a body temperature sensor, or a built-in camera remote shutter.
The FreeBuds SE 3 are equipped with a noise-canceling microphone, which works to reduce unwanted background sound during calls or voice input.
