It carries an IP68 ingress protection rating, classifying it as waterproof, though it does not feature a rugged build.

The Huawei Mate 70 Pro uses an OLED/AMOLED touch screen measuring 6.9″ with a resolution of 1316 x 2832 px and a pixel density of 453 ppi. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate alongside a 300Hz touch sampling rate, contributing to responsive on-screen interaction. The display does not support HDR10, HDR10+, or Dolby Vision, and it lacks an Always-On Display mode, branded damage-resistant glass, and a secondary screen.

The Huawei Mate 70 Pro is powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 9020, a 7 nm chipset with a 12-thread CPU arranged in a big.LITTLE configuration running at speeds of 2 x 2.5, 6 x 2.15, and 4 x 1.6 GHz, alongside a Thermal Design Power of 6W. Graphics are handled by the integrated Maleoon 920 GPU clocked at 840 MHz, supporting DirectX 12, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2. The device includes 12 GB of RAM at 2750 MHz with a maximum memory bandwidth of 44 GB/s, and offers 1024 GB of internal storage. It supports 64-bit processing and has integrated LTE on the SoC.

The Huawei Mate 70 Pro features a triple-lens rear camera system with sensors at 50, 12, and 48 MP, paired with apertures of f/1.4, f/2.1, and f/2.2 respectively, and a 5x optical zoom. The rear setup uses a CMOS sensor and supports optical image stabilization, laser autofocus, phase-detection autofocus, touch autofocus, and continuous autofocus during video recording. A dual-tone LED flash with two LEDs accompanies the rear cameras, though there is no BSI sensor, RGB flash, or 3D recording capability. Manual controls cover exposure, ISO, focus, shutter speed, and white balance, while additional shooting modes include HDR, burst, panorama, slow-motion video, and timelapse; RAW capture is also supported, but 360-degree panorama, HDR10 recording, and Dolby Vision recording are not. The 13 MP front camera has an aperture of f/2.4 and is a single-lens unit without a front-facing flash, an under-display placement, or a multi-lens arrangement.

The Huawei Mate 70 Pro's operating system includes a range of usability and privacy features, among them camera and microphone privacy controls, dark mode, customizable notifications, sharing intents, voice commands, widgets, and split-screen multitasking. It supports a child lock, device position tracking, battery health check, and operates as a multi-user system. Direct OS updates from the vendor are not available, and the device cannot be used as a PC.

The Huawei Mate 70 Pro houses a 5500 mAh rechargeable, non-removable battery with a built-in level indicator. Wired fast charging is supported at 100W, while wireless charging operates at 80W, and the device also offers reverse wireless charging at 20W for powering other devices. A charger is included in the box.

The Huawei Mate 70 Pro includes stereo speakers but omits a 3.5 mm headphone jack and has no built-in radio. On the wireless audio side, it does not support aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC.

The Huawei Mate 70 Pro supports 5G connectivity and accommodates two SIM cards, with Wi-Fi covering versions 4, 5, 6, and 7 (802.11n/ac/ax/be) and Bluetooth 5.2. It features a USB Type-C port running at USB 3.1, NFC, an infrared sensor, and emergency SOS via satellite. For navigation and sensing, the device includes GPS, Galileo, a gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, and barometer. Security is handled through a fingerprint scanner and 3D facial recognition, while no iris scanner is present. The device does not include an external memory slot, HDMI output, ANT+ support, heart rate monitor, crash detection, DLNA certification, motion or optical tracking, a built-in projector, or a stylus.

The Huawei Mate 70 Pro includes a video light but does not feature a sapphire glass display, a curved display, or an e-paper display.
