It carries an IP68 ingress protection rating with a certified waterproof depth of 6 m, classifying it as fully waterproof under the standard conditions that rating implies.

The Huawei Mate 80 Pro uses an OLED/AMOLED touchscreen measuring 6.75″ with a resolution of 1280 x 2832 px and a pixel density of 460 ppi, paired with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 300Hz touch sampling rate for responsive input. The display is protected by branded damage-resistant glass but does not support HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, or an Always-On Display mode, and there is no secondary screen present.

The Huawei Mate 80 Pro is powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 9030 Pro, a 6 nm SoC with a 14-thread CPU running a tri-cluster configuration of 2 x 2.75 GHz, 4 x 2.27 GHz, and 8 x 1.72 GHz cores using big.LITTLE technology, alongside a Maleoon 935 GPU with integrated graphics supporting DirectX 12, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2. The chip integrates LTE and is paired with 16 GB of RAM at 2750 MHz and 1024 GB of internal storage, with a maximum memory bandwidth of 44 GB/s, and the platform fully supports 64-bit processing.

The Huawei Mate 80 Pro features a triple-lens rear camera system with sensors at 50, 48, and 40 MP and corresponding apertures of f/1.4, f/2.1, and f/2.2, covering a focal range from 13 mm to 125 mm with 4x optical zoom and built-in optical image stabilization. The main camera uses a CMOS sensor and supports phase-detection autofocus, laser autofocus, touch autofocus, and continuous autofocus during video, along with a full suite of manual controls including exposure, ISO, focus, shutter speed, and white balance, plus HDR mode, burst shooting, panorama, timelapse, slow-motion video, and 4K recording at 2160 x 30 fps via two flash LEDs — though it does not include a dual-tone or RGB flash, a BSI sensor, HDR10 or Dolby Vision recording, or 3D and 360° capture. The 13 MP front camera has an aperture of f/2 and is a single-lens unit without an under-display placement or a front-facing flash.

The Huawei Mate 80 Pro's operating system includes a broad set of usability and privacy features, among them dark mode, customizable notifications, widgets, voice commands, sharing intents, split-screen multitasking, child lock, multi-user support, device tracking, battery health check, and camera and microphone privacy controls. The system does not support direct OS updates from the vendor, nor can the device be used as a PC.

The Huawei Mate 80 Pro houses a non-removable rechargeable battery rated at 5750 mAh, with wired fast charging at 100W and wireless charging at 80W. It also supports reverse wireless charging at 20W, allowing the device to charge other compatible accessories, and includes a battery level indicator. The battery cannot be removed by the user.

The Huawei Mate 80 Pro includes stereo speakers but omits a 3.5 mm headphone jack and has no built-in radio. On the wireless audio side, it does not support aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC, leaving Bluetooth as the primary path for wireless audio without any of those higher-quality codec options.

The Huawei Mate 80 Pro supports 5G cellular connectivity alongside dual SIM, Wi-Fi 4, 5, 6, and 7, and Bluetooth 6, with NFC and a USB Type-C port running USB 3.1. For positioning, it includes GPS with Galileo support, and its sensor array covers a gyroscope, accelerometer, and barometer. Security is handled through a fingerprint scanner, while 3D facial recognition and an iris scanner are not present. The device does not offer an external memory slot, HDMI output, infrared sensor, compass, heart rate monitor, ANT+ support, DLNA certification, satellite SOS, crash detection, motion or optical tracking, a stylus, or a built-in projector.

The Huawei Mate 80 Pro includes a video light but does not feature a sapphire glass display, a curved display, or an e-paper display.
