Huawei Mate X6

The Huawei Mate X6 features a foldable design with a height of 156.6 mm, a width of 144.1 mm, and a notably slim thickness of just 4.6 mm, resulting in a total volume of approximately 103.8 cm³. It weighs 239 g and carries an IP67 rating, meaning it is waterproof and protected against dust and temporary water immersion. The device does not have a rugged build classification, but its water resistance certification still provides a meaningful level of protection for everyday use.

The Huawei Mate X6 uses an OLED/AMOLED touch screen measuring 7.93″ with a resolution of 2240 x 2440 px and a pixel density of 418 ppi, delivering a sharp and detailed image across its large foldable panel. The display refreshes at 120Hz, ensuring smooth motion during scrolling and interactions. A secondary touch-enabled screen is also present, running at a resolution of 1080 x 2440px. The main display does not support HDR10, HDR10+, or Dolby Vision, lacks branded damage-resistant glass, and does not feature an Always-On Display mode.

The Huawei Mate X6 is driven by the HiSilicon Kirin 9020 chipset, built on a 7 nm process with a 12-thread CPU configuration running at speeds of 2 x 2.5, 6 x 2.15, and 4 x 1.6 GHz using big.LITTLE technology, and a Thermal Design Power of 6W. It supports 64-bit processing and comes with 16 GB of RAM operating at 2750 MHz, offering a maximum memory bandwidth of 44 GB/s, alongside 1024 GB of internal storage. Graphics are handled by the integrated Maleoon 920 GPU clocked at 840 MHz, with support for DirectX 12, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2. Integrated LTE is present on the SoC, and the device posts an AnTuTu benchmark score of 1,248,520.

The Huawei Mate X6 features a triple-lens rear camera system with sensors at 50, 48, and 40 MP, paired with apertures of f/1.4, f/3, and f/2.2 respectively, and built-in optical image stabilization for steadier shots. The CMOS-based system supports phase-detection autofocus, laser autofocus, and touch autofocus for photos, along with continuous autofocus during video recording, while a 4x optical zoom extends shooting flexibility. Two flash LEDs are present, though they are not dual-tone or RGB. Manual controls cover exposure, ISO, focus, shutter speed, and white balance, and the camera also supports RAW capture, HDR mode, burst shooting, slow-motion video, timelapse, and in-camera panoramas — though 360° panorama, HDR10 recording, Dolby Vision recording, and 3D photo or video are not supported. The 8 MP front camera has an aperture of f/2.2 and is a single-lens unit positioned above the display, without a front-facing flash or under-display placement.

The operating system on the Huawei Mate X6 includes a range of usability and privacy features, among them camera and microphone privacy controls, dark mode, customizable notifications, sharing intents, voice commands, and support for widgets. It functions as a multi-user system and also offers a child lock, device position tracking, and a battery health check tool. Split-screen multitasking is supported, giving users the ability to run two apps simultaneously on the large foldable display. However, the device does not receive direct OS updates from the vendor and cannot be used as a PC.

The Huawei Mate X6 is equipped with a 5200 mAh rechargeable battery that supports fast wired charging at 66W and wireless charging at 50W, offering flexible options for topping up quickly. A battery level indicator is included, and the battery itself is non-removable. Reverse wireless charging is not supported, meaning the device cannot be used to wirelessly charge other devices.

The Huawei Mate X6 includes stereo speakers but omits a 3.5 mm headphone jack, so wired audio accessories require an adapter or a USB-C connection. On the wireless audio side, none of the high-quality Bluetooth codec standards are supported — aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, and LDAC are all absent. The device also does not have a built-in radio receiver.

The Huawei Mate X6 supports 5G connectivity and accommodates two SIM cards, with Wi-Fi coverage spanning Wi-Fi 4, Wi-Fi 5, and Wi-Fi 6 standards. Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC are both present, and the device connects via a USB Type-C port running at USB 3.1 speeds, though there is no HDMI output or external memory slot. A fingerprint scanner handles biometric authentication, while 3D facial recognition and an iris scanner are not included. On the sensor front, the device is equipped with a gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, barometer, infrared sensor, and GPS with Galileo support. Emergency SOS via satellite is also available, adding an additional safety layer in areas without cellular coverage. Crash detection, ANT+, a heart rate monitor, DLNA certification, motion tracking, optical tracking, and a built-in projector are all absent, and no stylus is included.

The Huawei Mate X6 includes a video light to assist with illumination during video recording. The display is flat rather than curved and uses neither sapphire glass nor an e-paper panel.
