Weighing just 168 g, it sits on the lighter end of the scale for its screen category. There is no water resistance rating on this model, so it carries no certified protection against moisture or splashes.

The Huawei Nova 12 Lite uses an OLED/AMOLED touchscreen measuring 6.7″ with a resolution of 1084×2412 pixels and a pixel density of 395 ppi, producing a reasonably sharp image across the panel. The display runs at a 120 Hz refresh rate for smooth everyday interaction, and Always-On Display is supported, keeping key information visible without fully waking the screen. HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision are not supported, and the panel does not feature branded damage-resistant glass. There is no secondary screen on this device.

The Huawei Nova 12 Lite is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 4G chipset, built on a 6 nm process with a 5W TDP and an 8-thread CPU using big.LITTLE and HMP architecture. Clock speeds span one core at 2.4 GHz, three cores at 2.2 GHz, and four cores at 1.9 GHz. Graphics are handled by an Adreno 642 GPU running at 490 MHz, supporting DirectX 12 and OpenGL ES 3.2, with an OpenCL version of 2. The chip includes integrated LTE, TrustZone, and NX bit support. The device carries 8 GB of DDR5 RAM at 3,200 MHz alongside 256 GB of internal storage, with the platform supporting up to 16 GB of RAM; ECC memory is not available. The 2 MB L2 cache and 64-bit compatibility round out the core hardware configuration.

The Huawei Nova 12 Lite features a dual-lens rear camera pairing a 50 MP sensor at f/2.2 with an 8 MP lens at f/1.9, using a CMOS sensor without back-side illumination. Autofocus options include phase-detection, laser, and touch autofocus, with continuous autofocus available during video recording; optical image stabilization is not present. Privacy tools cover camera and microphone access controls, and the system supports multi-user profiles, device tracking, and battery health monitoring. Direct OS updates from the vendor are not available, and the device cannot function as a PC replacement.

The Huawei Nova 12 Lite is equipped with a 4,500 mAh non-removable rechargeable battery that supports 66W wired fast charging, with a charger included in the box. A battery level indicator is present, making it straightforward to monitor charge status. Wireless charging is not supported on this model.

The Huawei Nova 12 Lite has a notably limited audio profile — it lacks both a 3.5 mm headset jack and stereo speakers, meaning wired headphone use requires an adapter and built-in audio output is confined to a single speaker. No radio is present, and none of the enhanced Bluetooth audio codecs — including aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, and LDAC — are supported, which rules out high-quality wireless audio transmission over Bluetooth.

Security relies on a fingerprint scanner, as 3D facial recognition and an iris scanner are not available. Satellite emergency SOS, crash detection, DLNA certification, ANT+, motion tracking, optical tracking, and a built-in projector are all absent from this model.

The Huawei Nova 12 Lite includes a video light to assist with recording in low-light conditions. The display is flat rather than curved, and neither sapphire glass nor an e-paper panel is used on this model.
