The Huawei Nova Flip S features a foldable design that measures 169.8 mm in height, 75.4 mm in width, and just 6.9 mm in thickness, with a total volume of 88.34 cm³. It weighs 199 g and carries a water-resistant rating, though it does not have a rugged build.

The Huawei Nova Flip S uses an OLED/AMOLED touchscreen measuring 6.94″ with a resolution of 1136 x 2690 px and a pixel density of 421 ppi, paired with a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth on-screen motion. The display does not support HDR10, HDR10+, or Dolby Vision, and it lacks both an Always-On Display mode and branded damage-resistant glass. There is no secondary screen included on this device.

The Huawei Nova Flip S is powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 8030 chipset, built on a 7 nm process and paired with 12GB of DDR5 RAM running at 4266 MHz, along with 512GB of internal storage and a maximum memory capacity of 16GB. The octa-core CPU runs across three clock tiers — one core at 2.29 GHz, three at 2.05 GHz, and four at 1.3 GHz — using big.LITTLE technology and 8 threads, while supporting 64-bit processing, NX bit, and TrustZone security. Graphics are handled by the Maleoon 920 GPU, clocked at 840 MHz with 256 shading units and OpenCL 2.0 support, backed by integrated graphics, 4 memory channels, and a maximum memory bandwidth of 68.2 GB/s. The SoC also includes integrated LTE and supports multithreading.

The main camera system is a dual-lens setup with 50MP and 8MP sensors, featuring apertures of f/2.4 and f/1.9 respectively, a CMOS sensor, optical image stabilization, and a single LED flash — though no dual-tone or RGB flash is included. Autofocus options cover laser, phase-detection, continuous, and touch autofocus, while manual controls extend to ISO, exposure, focus, and white balance, though manual shutter speed is not available. Video recording reaches 2160p at 30fps with slow-motion support, while HDR10 and Dolby Vision recording are not supported. Additional shooting modes include burst, panorama, HDR, and timelapse. The 32MP front camera has an aperture of f/2.2 and supports HDR and touch autofocus, but lacks a front-facing flash, a secondary lens, and is not positioned under the display. The operating system on the Huawei Nova Flip S includes a broad set of software features, among them multi-user support, split-screen multitasking, customizable notifications, widgets, sharing intents, voice commands, and a child lock. Privacy-conscious users will find camera and microphone access controls, alongside device tracking functionality and a battery health check tool. Dark mode is also supported. However, the device does not receive direct OS updates from the vendor and cannot be used as a PC.

The Huawei Nova Flip S houses a 4400 mAh rechargeable battery with a built-in level indicator, and supports 44W fast charging for quicker top-ups over a wired connection. Wireless charging is not available, and the battery is not removable.

The Huawei Nova Flip S features stereo speakers and supports LDAC for high-quality wireless audio transmission, but does not include a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, and aptX Lossless codecs are not supported, and there is no built-in radio.

The Huawei Nova Flip S supports 5G connectivity and accommodates two SIM cards, while wireless networking covers Wi-Fi 4, Wi-Fi 5, and Wi-Fi 6. The Huawei Nova Flip S includes a video light for use during video recording, but does not feature a sapphire glass display, a curved display, or an e-paper display.
