The HyperX Origins 2 Pro 65 is a wired mechanical gaming keyboard built around a compact 65% layout with a standard profile, connecting via USB and operating at a polling rate of 8000 Hz. It measures 315 mm wide, 105.5 mm tall, and 37 mm thick, with a weight of 692 g, giving it a reasonably solid feel for its size class. The keyboard features a detachable cable, which adds convenience for transport and cable management, while the standard profile keeps it broadly compatible with common accessories. It is not designed for Mac, and comes with a one-year warranty.
The keyboard is built with an aluminum and plastic case paired with an aluminum plate, available exclusively in black. It features a backlit layout with RGB lighting, allowing for per-key illumination customization. Adjustable feet are included for typing angle adjustment, though no wrist rest is bundled with the keyboard.
The keyboard uses hall effect switches with a linear feel, offering smooth keypresses without tactile bumps or audible clicks. The switches are hot-swappable, meaning they can be removed and replaced without soldering, which makes it straightforward to change them out if needed.
The keyboard supports analog input and rapid trigger, two features that take advantage of its hall effect switches by enabling position-sensitive key data and highly responsive actuation reset points. It also includes full N-key rollover (NKRO), ensuring every simultaneous keypress is registered without conflict. On the other hand, it does not offer dual actuation, adjustable actuation, or USB passthrough, and there is no built-in display. Firmware customization via QMK, ZMK, or VIA is not supported.
The keyboard follows an ANSI (United States) layout with a standard key arrangement, making it compatible with a wide range of aftermarket keycap sets. The keycaps are PBT double-shot in an OEM profile, which provides a familiar typing feel and durable legends that resist fading. Media controls are accessible via the Fn key rather than dedicated keys, and there is no rotary dial on the board.
