Lava Shark 4G

The Lava Shark 4G has a standard, non-folding form factor standing 165.8 mm tall and 77.2 mm wide, with a thickness of 8.5 mm and a weight of 200 g. Its volume comes in at approximately 108.8 cm³, giving it a fairly typical footprint for a device in this size class. On the durability side, it carries an IP54 rating, meaning it offers measurable resistance to dust ingress and water splashes, though it does not feature a fully rugged build.

The Lava Shark 4G features a 6.67″ IPS LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1612 px and a pixel density of 269 ppi. One of its more notable display traits is a 120Hz refresh rate, which enables smoother on-screen motion. The panel does not support HDR10, HDR10+, or Dolby Vision, and there is no Always-On Display mode or secondary screen. It also lacks branded damage-resistant glass.

The Lava Shark 4G is driven by the Unisoc T606 chipset, built on a 12 nm process with an 8-thread CPU running at 1.6 GHz across all cores, supported by 4 GB of DDR4 RAM at 1600 MHz and 64 GB of eMMC 5.1 internal storage. The SoC incorporates integrated LTE, uses big.LITTLE architecture with HMP, and includes ARM TrustZone security. Graphics are handled by the Mali G57 MP1 GPU, clocked at 650 MHz with 64 shading units and one execution unit, supporting DirectX 12, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2.0. Cache is organized across three levels — 128 KB L1, 2 MB L2, and 1 MB L3 — with a maximum memory bandwidth of 12.8 GB/s and a maximum supported memory amount of 14 GB. In benchmarks, the chipset scores 1391 multi-core and 371 single-core on Geekbench 6, while PassMark returns 2663 overall and 988 in the single-core test, with a rated thermal design power of 10W.

The Lava Shark 4G carries a single-lens 50 MP rear camera built on a CMOS sensor, without optical image stabilization or a back-illuminated sensor. It records video at up to 1080p at 30 fps and supports slow-motion recording, though HDR10 and Dolby Vision recording are not available. Autofocus options include phase-detection and touch autofocus as well as continuous autofocus during video, but laser autofocus is absent. Manual controls cover exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, while manual shutter speed is not supported. The camera also handles burst mode, HDR stills, panoramas, and timelapse. A single LED flash is present on the rear, with no dual-tone or RGB flash, and the front camera offers 8 MP in a single-lens setup without its own flash. Neither 360-degree panorama, RAW shooting, 3D capture, nor an under-display front camera are included.

The Lava Shark 4G runs Android 14, a free and open-source platform that supports multiple user accounts and includes on-device machine learning alongside offline voice recognition and voice commands. Privacy-oriented features cover clipboard warnings, location privacy options, camera and microphone access controls, and the ability to block app tracking, though cross-site tracking blocking and Mail Privacy Protection are not present. On the usability side, the OS offers dark mode, dynamic theming, theme customization, customizable notifications with notification permission controls, a media picker, full-page screenshots, split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, sharing intents, widgets, a child lock, Live Text, an extra dim mode, and a battery health check. Games can be played while downloading, and phone position tracking is supported. Features not included are focus modes, app offloading, Wi-Fi password sharing, Quick Start, and the ability to use the device as a PC. Direct OS updates from the vendor are not provided.

The Lava Shark 4G is equipped with a 5000 mAh rechargeable, non-removable battery that supports 18W fast charging, with a charger included in the box. A battery level indicator is present, making it easy to keep track of remaining charge. Wireless charging is not supported.

The Lava Shark 4G includes a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a built-in radio, offering two wired and broadcast listening options. It does not feature stereo speakers, and none of the advanced Bluetooth audio codecs — aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC — are supported.

The Lava Shark 4G supports 4G cellular connectivity with download speeds of up to 300 Mbit/s and upload speeds of up to 100 Mbit/s, but does not include 5G. Wireless connectivity covers Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) and Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) alongside Bluetooth 5.0, while NFC is absent. The device accommodates two SIM cards and has an external memory slot for additional storage. A USB Type-C port handles wired connections, though there is no HDMI output. For location, it includes GPS with Galileo support, and onboard sensors extend to an accelerometer, with no gyroscope, compass, or barometer present. A fingerprint scanner is available for biometric security, while 3D facial recognition and an iris scanner are not included. The device lacks a heart rate monitor, infrared sensor, ANT+ support, DLNA certification, motion and optical tracking, a built-in projector, crash detection, emergency SOS via satellite, and a stylus.

The Lava Shark 4G includes a video light, which can be used to illuminate scenes during video recording. The display is flat rather than curved, and the device uses neither sapphire glass nor an e-paper panel.
