The handset tips the scales at 193 g, which is a fairly typical weight for a smartphone of this screen size.

The Lava Yuva Smart features a 6.75″ IPS LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1600 px and a pixel density of 260 ppi, refreshing at a standard 60Hz. The display does not include branded damage-resistant glass, and it lacks support for HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and Always-On Display functionality. There is no secondary screen on this device.

The Lava Yuva Smart is driven by the Unisoc SC9863A chipset, built on a 28 nm process with an octa-core CPU arranged in a big.LITTLE configuration running four cores at 1.6 GHz and four at 1.2 GHz across 8 threads, with a TDP of 3W. It is paired with 3 GB of DDR4 RAM at 933 MHz across two memory channels, offering a maximum memory bandwidth of 7.464 GB/s and support for up to 6 GB total, while 64 GB of eMMC 5.1 internal storage can be expanded by up to 512 GB externally. Graphics are handled by the integrated PowerVR GE8322 GPU, which features 4 execution units and 128 shading units, a base clock of 550 MHz with a turbo of 800 MHz, and supports DirectX 11, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2. The chipset also includes integrated LTE and 64-bit support, and benchmark results stand at 725 multi-core and 164 single-core on Geekbench 6, 2956 multi-core and 901 single-core on Geekbench 5, and a PassMark score of 1327 (478 single-core), with 0.512 MB of L3 cache rounding out the processor configuration.

The Lava Yuva Smart has a dual-lens 13 MP rear camera built around a CMOS sensor, supported by phase-detection autofocus, touch autofocus, and continuous autofocus during video recording, though laser autofocus is not available. Manual controls extend to exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, while burst mode, HDR, slow-motion video, and in-camera panoramas are also on hand; however, manual shutter speed, RAW capture, and 360-degree panorama shooting are not supported. The single rear LED flash is a standard single-tone unit, with no dual-tone or RGB flash option. On the front, a 5 MP single-lens camera handles selfies without a dedicated flash, and it is conventionally positioned rather than hidden under the display. Neither HDR10 nor Dolby Vision recording is available, and the camera system has no 3D photo or video capabilities. Optical zoom stands at 0x, meaning no optical zoom is provided.

The Lava Yuva Smart runs Android 14, a free and open-source platform that supports multi-user profiles, split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, widgets, dynamic theming, theme customization, dark mode, and an extra dim mode. Privacy-conscious users will find clipboard warnings, location privacy options, camera and microphone access controls, and app tracking blocking built in, though cross-site tracking protection and Mail Privacy Protection are absent. Productivity is further aided by customizable notifications, a media picker, full-page screenshots, sharing intents, Live Text, offline voice recognition, voice commands, phone tracking, on-device machine learning, and the ability to play games while they download. A child lock and battery health check are also present, while Wi-Fi password sharing, focus modes, app offloading, Quick Start, and the ability to be used as a PC are not supported. Direct OS updates from the vendor are not available on this device.

The Lava Yuva Smart houses a 5000 mAh rechargeable battery that supports fast charging at up to 10W, and a charger is included in the box. A battery level indicator is present, making it easy to keep track of remaining charge. The battery is not removable, and wireless charging is not supported.

The Lava Yuva Smart includes a 3.5 mm headphone jack for wired audio and a built-in radio, though it is limited to a single speaker with no stereo output. On the wireless audio side, none of the high-quality Bluetooth codecs — aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC — are supported.

The Lava Yuva Smart connects to mobile networks via a cellular module supporting dual SIM cards, with download speeds of up to 300 MBits/s and upload speeds of up to 150 MBits/s, though 5G is not supported. Wireless connectivity is handled by Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) and Bluetooth 4.2, while an external memory slot and a USB Type-C port (USB 2.0) are available for local expansion and wired connections; HDMI output is not present. NFC is absent, but the device does include a fingerprint scanner, GPS, Galileo satellite navigation support, a compass, and an accelerometer, making it capable of location and basic motion sensing. A gyroscope, barometer, infrared sensor, heart rate monitor, ANT+ support, and motion or optical tracking are all absent, and there is no 3D facial recognition or iris scanner. Emergency SOS via satellite, crash detection, DLNA certification, a built-in projector, and a stylus are likewise not part of this device's feature set.

The Lava Yuva Smart features a video light for recording in low-light conditions, while its display is flat and standard — there is no curved panel, sapphire glass, or e-paper screen on this device.
