The laptop does not use a fanless design, nor does it feature a rugged build or weather-sealing, so it is not rated for exposure to splashes or harsh physical conditions.

The 16-inch IPS LCD panel delivers a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels at 141 ppi, with a 16:10 aspect ratio that adds a bit of extra vertical space compared to standard widescreen layouts. Typical brightness is rated at 300 nits, and both touch input and an anti-reflection coating are included. The refresh rate runs at 60Hz, keeping motion handling within standard productivity-oriented parameters.

The system is equipped with 64GB of DDR5 RAM running at 5600 MHz across two memory slots, which also represents the maximum supported memory capacity. The 14-thread CPU operates at base speeds of 2 x 1.7 GHz and 8 x 1.2 GHz, climbing to a turbo clock of 4.9GHz, and supports both multithreading and 64-bit instruction processing. Storage comes in the form of a 2TB NVMe SSD connected via PCIe 4, ensuring fast read and write throughput for large files and applications. The ThinkPad T16 Gen 3 offers a focused port selection built around two Thunderbolt 4 ports — which also function as USB 4 40Gbps connections — alongside two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports and a single HDMI 2.1 output for external display use. A dedicated RJ45 jack provides wired ethernet, while wireless connectivity covers Wi-Fi 6E, Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 5, and Wi-Fi 4, paired with Bluetooth 5.3.
