The LG XBoom Buds use an in-ear fit and come with wingtips included to help keep them in place during use. They are true wireless earbuds with no cables or neckband, and each earbud weighs 10.6 g. The design carries an IPX4 ingress protection rating, offering resistance to sweat, which makes them suitable for physical activity. Stereo speakers are built in, while RGB lighting, a display, and UV light are not part of the design.
The LG XBoom Buds feature both active noise cancellation (ANC) and passive noise reduction, working together to limit unwanted ambient sound during listening. Each earbud uses a 10 mm driver unit and covers a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20000 Hz. The earbuds do not include a neodymium magnet, and there is no support for spatial audio, Dolby Atmos, or Dirac Virtuo.
The LG XBoom Buds are equipped with a rechargeable battery that delivers 10 hours of battery life per charge, with the charging case providing an additional 20 hours for a combined total of 30 hours. The earbuds take 1 hour to fully charge and include a battery level indicator to keep track of remaining power. Wireless charging and solar power are not supported.
The LG XBoom Buds connect wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.4, supporting LE Audio, Auracast, AAC codec, and fast pairing, with a maximum range of 10 m. USB Type-C is available for wired charging, though NFC pairing is not supported. On the codec side, LDAC, LDHC, and the full range of aptX variants — including aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Low Latency, aptX Lossless, and aptX Voice — are not available.
The LG XBoom Buds include ambient sound mode to let in surrounding audio when needed, along with a mute function and voice prompts for hands-free feedback during use. They can be used as a headset and support fast charging, while a find device feature helps locate misplaced earbuds. Controls are handled through a device-based control panel rather than an in-line control panel, and a travel bag is included in the box. In/on-ear detection, notification reading, a body temperature sensor, and a built-in camera remote are not part of the feature set.
The LG XBoom Buds feature a 6-microphone setup paired with a noise-canceling microphone, designed to help capture voice clearly while reducing unwanted background noise during calls and voice input.
