The Motorola Moto G55 5G has a water-resistant build and measures 161.6 mm tall, 73.8 mm wide, and 8.1 mm thick, giving it a total volume of 96.60 cm³. It weighs 182 g and follows a standard candy-bar form factor, as it neither folds nor carries a rugged-rated construction.

The Moto G55 5G features a 6.49″ IPS LCD touchscreen with a 1080 x 2400 px resolution and a pixel density of 405 ppi, delivering a sharp and detailed image. The panel supports a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling and motion, and is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 to guard against everyday scratches and impacts. HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and Always-On Display are not supported, and there is no secondary screen.

The Moto G55 5G is driven by the MediaTek Dimensity 7025 chipset, built on a 6 nm process and configured with two cores clocked at 2.5 GHz and six cores at 2 GHz using big.LITTLE and HMP scheduling. It is paired with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM running at 2750 MHz across four memory channels, offering a maximum memory bandwidth of 51.2 GB/s and support for up to 16GB total, alongside 256GB of internal storage. Graphics are handled by the integrated IMG BXM-8-256 GPU clocked at 900 MHz, with 18 shading units, DirectX 12, and OpenCL 2 support. The chipset scores 465,320 on AnTuTu, 884 single-core and 2,291 multi-core on Geekbench 6, and 690 single-core and 1,890 multi-core on Geekbench 5. The SoC also includes integrated LTE, NX bit security, multithreading, and full 64-bit support.

The Moto G55 5G carries a dual-lens rear camera system combining a 50 MP sensor at f/2.2 and an 8 MP sensor at f/1.8, both using a CMOS design without back-illumination. Optical image stabilization is built in, and autofocus options include phase-detection, touch, and continuous autofocus during video recording, though laser autofocus is absent. The rear camera can record video at up to 1080p at 60 fps and supports slow-motion capture, while HDR10 and Dolby Vision recording are not available. A single LED flash is present on the back, with no dual-tone or RGB flash option. Manual controls cover ISO, exposure, focus, and white balance, while manual shutter speed and RAW capture are not supported; additional shooting modes include burst, panorama, and timelapse. The 16 MP front camera sits at f/2.4 in a conventional cutout — not under the display — and works as a single lens without a front flash.

The Moto G55 5G runs Android 14, an open-source platform that supports multiple user accounts, voice commands with offline voice recognition, on-device machine learning, and device tracking. On the privacy side, it offers clipboard warnings, location privacy controls, camera and microphone access management, and the ability to block app tracking, though cross-site tracking blocking and Mail Privacy Protection are absent. Usability features include dark mode, extra dim mode, dynamic and manual theme customization, customizable notifications with a media picker, full-page scrolling screenshots, split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, sharing intents, widgets, a child lock, and the ability to play games while they download. Battery health monitoring is also available. Wi-Fi password sharing, focus modes, app offloading, Quick Start, and the ability to function as a PC are not supported, and OS updates are not delivered directly from the platform vendor.

The Moto G55 5G houses a rechargeable 5000 mAh battery with a built-in level indicator, and supports wired fast charging at 30W. The battery is non-removable and wireless charging is not available.

The Moto G55 5G includes stereo speakers and retains a 3.5 mm headphone jack for wired listening, alongside a built-in radio. High-resolution audio codecs LDAC and aptX Lossless are not supported.

The Moto G55 5G supports 5G connectivity alongside Wi-Fi 4 and Wi-Fi 5, and accommodates two SIM cards with a separate external memory slot for expandable storage. Bluetooth 5.3 and NFC are both present, and the device connects via a USB Type-C port running USB 2.0, with a maximum download speed of 2770 MBits/s. For navigation, it includes GPS with Galileo support, a compass, a gyroscope, and an accelerometer, though a barometer is absent. Biometric security is handled by a fingerprint scanner; 3D facial recognition and an iris scanner are not available. Features such as crash detection, emergency SOS via satellite, ANT+, a heart rate monitor, an infrared sensor, DLNA certification, HDMI output, motion tracking, optical tracking, and a built-in projector are not included.

The Moto G55 5G includes a video light for illumination during video recording. The display is flat rather than curved, and neither sapphire glass nor an e-paper panel are used.
