It tips the scales at 171 g, placing it in a fairly typical weight range for a device of this size. Notably, the phone offers no water resistance, so protection against moisture or submersion is absent.

The Motorola S50 Neo features a 6.7-inch OLED/AMOLED touchscreen with a 1080 x 2400 px resolution and a pixel density of 393 ppi, delivering a reasonably sharp visual experience. The panel runs at a 120Hz refresh rate and supports both HDR10 and HDR10+, though Dolby Vision is not included. An Always-On Display mode is available for at-a-glance information, and there is no secondary screen. The display does not include branded damage-resistant glass, and the device is a single-screen, non-folding handset.

The Motorola S50 Neo runs Android 14, an open-source platform that supports multi-user profiles, split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, widgets, sharing intents, and the ability to play games while they are still downloading. Privacy tooling covers clipboard warnings, location controls, camera and microphone access management, and the ability to block app tracking, though cross-site tracking blocking and Mail Privacy Protection are not included. On the personalization side, the OS offers dynamic theming, theme customization, dark mode, an extra dim mode, and customizable notifications, while focus modes and app offloading are absent. Additional capabilities include on-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, voice commands, Live Text for selecting text in images, full-page screenshots, a media picker, a child lock, battery health monitoring, and device position tracking. OS updates do not arrive directly from the platform vendor, Wi-Fi password sharing is not supported, and the device cannot function as a PC.

The Motorola S50 Neo is equipped with a 5000 mAh rechargeable battery that is non-removable and supports 30W fast charging via cable, though wireless charging is not available. A battery level indicator is present, keeping the user informed of remaining charge at a glance.

The Motorola S50 Neo has a notably limited audio feature set. It lacks a 3.5 mm headphone jack and does not include stereo speakers, meaning audio output is confined to a single speaker. On the wireless audio side, none of the high-quality Bluetooth codecs are supported — there is no aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC. A built-in radio receiver is also absent.

The Motorola S50 Neo supports 5G connectivity with download speeds of up to 2500 Mbits/s and upload speeds of up to 1500 Mbits/s, and accommodates two SIM cards alongside an external memory slot for expandable storage. Wi-Fi coverage spans Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n), Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), and Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), complemented by Bluetooth 5.1 and NFC. The device connects via USB Type-C and includes GPS with Galileo satellite support, an accelerometer, and a fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication, while 3D facial recognition and an iris scanner are not present. Notably absent are HDMI output, an infrared sensor, a barometer, a heart rate monitor, ANT+ support, DLNA certification, crash detection, emergency SOS via satellite, a stylus, motion and optical tracking, and a built-in projector.
