The MSI Pro B860M-B is built around the LGA 1851 socket and the B860 chipset, housed in a Micro-ATX form factor measuring 220 mm by 243.8 mm. It supports a single CPU and does not include an integrated CPU or integrated graphics. The board features dual BIOS support along with an easy BIOS reset option, and overclocking is also supported. RGB lighting is present, and an HDMI 2.1 output is available for display connectivity. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are not included, so wireless connectivity would require additional hardware. The board carries a three-year warranty.
The board uses DDR5 memory and provides two slots arranged in a dual-channel configuration, supporting a maximum capacity of 128GB. Standard RAM speeds reach up to 6400 MHz, while overclocked configurations can push that figure to 9066 MHz. ECC memory is not supported.
The rear I/O offers a total of seven USB ports: two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, four USB 2.0 ports, and one USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C port. There are no USB 4, Thunderbolt, eSATA, or PS/2 ports present. Display output is covered by an HDMI port and one DisplayPort output, while VGA and DVI outputs are absent. Network connectivity is handled by a single RJ45 port.
For internal expansion, the board provides headers that enable two additional USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, one USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port, and four USB 2.0 ports. Storage connectivity is covered by four SATA 3 connectors and two M.2 sockets, while SATA 2, U.2, and mSATA connections are not available. A TPM connector is present, and three fan headers are included for cooling management.
The board offers two expansion slots in total: one PCIe 5.0 x16 slot for discrete graphics or high-bandwidth cards, and one PCIe x1 slot for smaller add-in cards. There are no PCIe 4.0, 3.0, or 2.0 x16 slots, and no PCIe x4, x8, or legacy PCI slots are present.
The board supports 7.1-channel audio and includes three analog audio connectors on the rear I/O. An S/PDIF Out port is not available.
