The Nikon Z6 III is a mirrorless system camera with a body measuring 138.5 mm wide, 101.5 mm tall, and 74 mm thick, weighing 760 g with a volume of 1040.2735 cm³. It features weather sealing for splash protection and operates within a temperature range of -14 °C to 40 °C. On the back, a 3.1″ touchscreen with a resolution of 2100k dots can flip out for flexible framing, while the 100% coverage electronic viewfinder provides a full view of the scene — though it does not tilt. A hot shoe is present for attaching external flash units, as no built-in flash is included. The camera does not feature a tilting viewfinder.
The Nikon Z6 III uses a full-frame back-illuminated CMOS sensor — though not a stacked design — resolving 24.5 MP through the Nikon Z lens mount, with a native maximum ISO of 64000 expandable to 204800 for low-light shooting. Its 273 phase-detection autofocus points support AF tracking, touch autofocus, and continuous autofocus, with manual focus also available. Mechanical continuous shooting reaches 14 fps in burst mode, backed by a fastest mechanical shutter speed of 0.000125 s, an electronic shutter ceiling of 6.25E-5 s, and a flash sync speed of 0.005 s, while maximum exposure time extends to 30 s. The camera offers full manual control over shutter speed, ISO, exposure, and white balance, along with a two-stage shutter, built-in HDR mode, and a sensor-shift stabilization system rated at 8 stops (CIPA) that can be combined with compatible lens-based stabilization.
The Nikon Z6 III records video at up to 3024 lines of resolution at 60 fps with a movie bitrate of 190 Mbps, and also supports a 24p cinema mode, slow-motion recording, and timelapse capture. Autofocus during video is handled by phase-detection with continuous AF active throughout recording. For audio, the camera includes two built-in stereo microphones alongside a dedicated microphone input and a 3.5 mm headset jack for external audio monitoring or recording.
The Nikon Z6 III is powered by a removable, rechargeable battery rated at 2100 mAh, with a CIPA-rated life of 380 shots per charge. A battery level indicator is present, allowing the remaining charge to be monitored at a glance.
The Nikon Z6 III is driven by an Expeed 7 processor and offers a broad connectivity suite, including Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) and Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n), Bluetooth 5, and USB Type-C, with smartphone remote control supported. It outputs video via HDMI 2.1 and provides dual card slots along with an external memory slot for flexible storage. The camera shoots RAW files with lossless compressed RAW support, and also features pixel shift shot for enhanced detail capture. NFC, GPS, and first-party live streaming are not available, and the hot shoe is a standard rather than advanced type. Wireless connectivity does not extend to NFC, and there is no built-in GPS for location tagging.
The Nikon Z6 III includes a USB 3.2 connection for data transfer and charging.
