The Nu Republic Starboy 6 uses an over-ear fit and tips the scale at 240 g, giving it a reasonably solid build presence. It can be folded for easier storage and comes with a detachable, tangle-free cable for added convenience. The headset includes RGB lighting for a visually distinct look, though it does not feature an open-back design or stereo speakers.
The Starboy 6 runs a dual-driver setup, with each 40 mm neodymium magnet driver covering a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz. Passive noise reduction is present to help block out ambient sound, though the headset does not include active noise cancellation. The two-driver configuration handles the full audible spectrum without any ANC circuitry in the signal path.
The Starboy 6 includes a noise-canceling microphone to help reduce background sound during calls or sessions. The microphone is built into the headset and cannot be removed.
The Starboy 6 is powered by a built-in rechargeable battery rated for 30 hours of use, and a battery level indicator lets you keep track of remaining charge at a glance. The battery is not removable, so it must be charged in place rather than swapped out.
The Starboy 6 connects via Bluetooth or a 3.5mm analog input, and can be used wirelessly with a maximum Bluetooth range of 10 m. It is compatible with PC and uses USB Type-C for charging. On the Bluetooth codec side, the headset does not support aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Low Latency, LDAC, LDHC, AAC, LE Audio, or Auracast, and neither NFC pairing nor fast pairing are available.
The Starboy 6 can be used as a headset and features an on-device control panel for managing functions directly from the headset itself. There is no in-line control panel on the cable, no vibration function, and no travel bag included in the box.
The Starboy 6 has a measured audio latency of 42 ms.
