The NuPhy Halo96 is a standard mechanical keyboard in a full 96% layout, measuring 377 × 135 × 41 mm and weighing 1488 g. It supports three connection modes — Bluetooth 5.0, 2.4GHz wireless, and USB — and includes a detachable cable for added flexibility. On wireless, the keyboard is rated for up to 205 hours of battery life, and it operates at a 1000 Hz polling rate for responsive input. The keyboard is not designed specifically for Mac. Physical dimensions place it in a mid-weight category for its size, and it comes backed by a one-year warranty.
The Halo96 features a plastic and aluminum case available in two colorways — white and black — giving it a relatively sturdy construction for its class. The keyboard includes RGB lighting with full backlight support, and adjustable feet allow users to set their preferred typing angle. No wrist rest is included in the package.
The Halo96 comes equipped with Gateron G Pro Red 2.0 mechanical switches, which offer a linear feel with an actuation force of 45 g and a total travel distance of 4 mm. The switches are hot-swappable, meaning they can be replaced without soldering directly on the board.
The Halo96 includes N-key rollover (NKRO) for simultaneous keypress registration and a built-in display on the board itself. It does not support analog input, rapid trigger, dual actuation, or adjustable actuation, making it a straightforward mechanical keyboard without advanced actuation customization. USB passthrough is also absent, and the keyboard lacks support for QMK, ZMK, or VIA firmware, so remapping and open-source configuration options are not available on this model.
The Halo96 uses an ANSI (United States) layout with a standard key arrangement, so compatibility with aftermarket keycap sets is straightforward. Keycaps are PBT double-shot in an OEM profile, offering a familiar typing surface with legends that resist wear over time. Media functions are accessible via the Fn key rather than dedicated keys, and there is no rotary dial on this model.
