The NZXT N9 Z890 is built around a single LGA 1851 socket and is compatible with the Z890 chipset, housed in a standard ATX form factor measuring 305 mm wide and 244 mm tall. It supports the full range of modern wireless standards through built-in Wi-Fi, covering Wi-Fi 4, 5, 6, and Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be), and pairs that with Bluetooth 5.4, though aptX is not supported. The board includes an HDMI 2.1 output, RGB lighting, and a straightforward BIOS reset mechanism, while overclocking is facilitated through dedicated ease-of-use features. Dual BIOS is not present, and there is no integrated graphics or integrated CPU on this board. A three-year warranty is included.
The board supports DDR5 memory across four slots in a dual-channel configuration, with a maximum supported capacity of 192GB and speeds reaching up to 8600 MHz. ECC memory is not supported on this motherboard.
The rear I/O offers a well-stocked USB lineup, including six USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, one USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 port, and two USB 4 40Gbps ports alongside two Thunderbolt 4 ports, with USB Type-C connectivity present. There are no USB 3.2 Gen 2 or Gen 1 Type-C ports, no USB 2.0 ports, no USB 4 20Gbps ports, and no Thunderbolt 3 ports. Video output is handled by a single HDMI output, while DisplayPort, DVI, and VGA outputs are absent. Networking is covered by one RJ45 port, and there are no eSATA or PS/2 ports on this board.
For internal expansion, the board provides four USB 3.2 Gen 1 headers and four USB 2.0 headers, along with one USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 connector; there are no USB 3.2 Gen 2 or USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 expansion headers. Storage connectivity is handled by five M.2 sockets and four SATA 3 connectors, with no SATA 2, U.2, or mSATA options present. Four fan headers are available for cooling management, and there is no TPM connector on this board.
The board offers a single PCIe 4.0 x16 slot for expansion, while PCIe 5.0, 3.0, and 2.0 x16 slots are not present. There are no PCIe x1, x4, or x8 slots, and no legacy PCI slots are included.
The onboard audio supports a 7.1-channel configuration and delivers a DAC signal-to-noise ratio of 130 dB, with two audio connectors available on the rear panel. An S/PDIF Out port is also included for digital audio output.
The board supports RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 (1+0) configurations, covering a range of performance and redundancy setups. RAID 0+1 is not supported.
