Its most notable design feature is an IP65 ingress protection rating, which certifies it as water resistant against low-pressure water jets, though it does not carry a rugged designation for drop or shock resistance.

The Oppo A5x features a 6.67″ IPS LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1604 px and a pixel density of 264 ppi, paired with a 90Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling and motion. The panel is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i, offering a degree of scratch and damage resistance, though the display does not support HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, or an Always-On Display mode, and there is no secondary screen present.

The Oppo A5x is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, a 4 nm SoC featuring an octa-core CPU arranged in a big.LITTLE configuration with four cores at 2.2 GHz and four at 1.8 GHz across 8 threads, supported by Heterogeneous Multi-Processing for efficient workload distribution. The chip integrates an Adreno 710 GPU clocked at 800 MHz with 128 shading units, DirectX 12, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2 support, alongside integrated LTE and ARM TrustZone security. The device ships with 128 GB of eMMC 5.1 storage and 4 GB of LPDDR5 RAM running at 2750 MHz across two memory channels, delivering up to 22 GB/s of memory bandwidth, while the platform supports a maximum of 12 GB of RAM. Manual controls are available for ISO, exposure, focus, and white balance, though manual shutter speed is absent, and the camera cannot shoot in RAW format. Video recording tops out at 1080p at 30 fps with no HDR10 or Dolby Vision recording support, while additional shooting modes include slow-motion, burst, panorama, and timelapse. OS updates are not delivered directly by the vendor, meaning software updates are handled through the manufacturer rather than via a direct Android distribution channel.

The Oppo A5x is equipped with a 6000 mAh rechargeable, non-removable battery that supports 45W wired fast charging, allowing for relatively quick top-ups. Wireless charging is not available, and the device includes a battery level indicator to keep track of remaining charge.

The Oppo A5x features stereo speakers and supports aptX for improved Bluetooth audio quality, though higher-tier codecs such as aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, and LDAC are not available.
