The Portronics Beem 540 measures 154 x 243 x 154 mm with a total volume of 5762.988 cm³, and its weight of 1400 g keeps it reasonably manageable for repositioning around a room. It does not use a laser light source, relying instead on a conventional lamp. A dedicated smartphone app is available, offering an additional way to interact with the projector beyond its physical controls.
The Beem 540 delivers a 720p output resolution and can project an image up to 200″ in size, requiring a minimum throw distance of 1.5 m to operate. Dolby Vision is not supported, and the projector does not offer 3D display functionality even with glasses.
The Beem 540 offers a well-rounded wireless connectivity setup, with Chromecast built-in, AirPlay, and Miracast all supported alongside Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. On the wired side, it includes one HDMI port, one USB port, and a DVI connector, though there is no VGA connector, no RJ45 port, and no S/PDIF output. DLNA certification is absent as well.
The Beem 540 includes built-in smart TV functionality and comes with a remote control, making it straightforward to navigate content without additional devices. It has a built-in mono speaker rated at 3W, though stereo speakers, a 3.5 mm headset jack, and Dolby Atmos are not part of the feature set. A sleep timer is available for automated shutoff, while lens shift in both horizontal and vertical directions is absent. The projector does not support voice commands and lacks an external memory slot.
