Realme Neo8

The Realme Neo8 has a non-folding, standard-form design measuring 162 mm tall, 77.1 mm wide, and 8.3 mm thick, with a total volume of 103.67 cm³ and a weight of 215 g. One of its notable physical attributes is its IP69 ingress protection rating, which qualifies it as waterproof with a rated depth tolerance of 2 m. Despite this level of water resistance, the device does not feature a rugged build in the traditional sense, keeping its profile closer to a conventional smartphone form factor.

The Realme Neo8 uses an OLED/AMOLED touch screen measuring 6.78″ with a resolution of 1272 x 2772 px and a pixel density of 450 ppi, producing a sharp and detailed image across its single display — there is no secondary screen. The panel runs at a 165Hz refresh rate with a 300Hz touch sampling rate, and reaches a typical brightness of 1000 nits. It supports HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision, and features an Always-On Display mode alongside branded damage-resistant glass for added durability.

The Realme Neo8 is driven by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, a 64-bit octa-core SoC built on a 3 nm process with a CPU configuration of 2 cores at 3.8 GHz and 6 cores at 3.32 GHz, supported by big.LITTLE architecture, HMP, and multithreading across 8 threads. The chip integrates an Adreno 840 GPU clocked at 1200 MHz with 3 execution units, support for DirectX 12, OpenGL 3.2, OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenCL 3, and a single display output, alongside integrated LTE and TrustZone security. The device ships with 16 GB of DDR5 RAM running at 4800 MHz across 2 memory channels, a maximum memory capacity of 24 GB, a peak memory bandwidth of 84.8 GB/s, and 1024 GB of internal storage via eMMC 5.1. In Geekbench 6, the chipset scores 3600 in single-core and 10800 in multi-core testing.

The Realme Neo8 features a multi-lens rear camera system with three sensors — two at 50 MP and one at 8 MP — with apertures of f/1.8, f/2.8, and f/2.2 respectively, covering a focal range from 16 mm to 80 mm and offering 3.5x optical zoom. The main camera uses a CMOS sensor (without back-illumination), supports optical image stabilization, phase-detection autofocus, touch autofocus, and continuous autofocus during video recording, though laser autofocus is not present. Video capture reaches up to 2160p at 60 fps, with slow-motion recording available, while HDR mode, burst shooting, timelapse, in-camera panorama, and RAW capture are all supported; HDR10 and Dolby Vision recording are not available, nor is 3D capture. Manual controls cover exposure, ISO, shutter speed, focus, and white balance, giving considerable hands-on flexibility. Flash is provided via 2 LED units, though the setup is not dual-tone and does not include an RGB flash. The single front camera sits at 16 MP with an f/2.4 aperture and is a conventional placement — not under-display — with no front-facing flash and no secondary front lens.

The Realme Neo8 runs Android 16 as a free and open-source operating system, supporting multiple user accounts, device tracking, offline voice recognition, and voice commands. On the privacy side, it includes clipboard warnings, location privacy controls, and camera/microphone access management, though Mail Privacy Protection, cross-site tracking blocking, and Wi-Fi password sharing are absent. The interface supports dark mode, dynamic theming, theme customization, widgets, customizable notifications, notification permission controls, and an extra dim mode for low-light use, while focus modes and Quick Start are not available. Productivity features include split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, full-page scrolling screenshots, Live Text selection from images, a media picker, app offloading, sharing intents, and the ability to play games while they download. On-device machine learning is supported, and a battery health check tool is built in; however, the device does not support direct OS updates from the vendor and cannot function as a PC.

The Realme Neo8 is equipped with an 8000 mAh rechargeable battery that is non-removable and supports 80W wired fast charging, with a charger included in the box. A battery level indicator is present for monitoring charge status. Wireless charging and reverse wireless charging are not supported.

The Realme Neo8 features stereo speakers and supports aptX, aptX HD, and LDAC Bluetooth audio codecs for higher-quality wireless audio transmission, though aptX Adaptive and aptX Lossless are not available. The device does not include a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and there is no built-in radio.

The Realme Neo8 supports 5G connectivity with a cellular module, dual SIM capability, and cellular download and upload speeds of up to 10,000 Mbits/s and 3,500 Mbits/s respectively. Wi-Fi coverage spans Wi-Fi 4, 5, 6, and 7 standards, and Bluetooth 6 is on board alongside NFC for short-range communication; there is no external memory slot, DLNA certification, or HDMI output. The USB Type-C port operates at USB 2.0 speeds, and the device includes a fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication, while 3D facial recognition and iris scanning are absent — and no stylus is included. On the sensor front, the device is equipped with a gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, GPS with Galileo support, and an infrared sensor, but lacks a barometer, heart rate monitor, and does not support ANT+, motion tracking, or optical tracking. Crash detection and emergency SOS via satellite are also not featured, and there is no built-in projector.

The Realme Neo8 includes a video light for use during video recording, while its display is flat rather than curved and uses neither sapphire glass nor an e-paper panel.
