The Sigma BF is a mirrorless system camera with a body measuring 130.1 mm wide, 72.8 mm tall, and 36.8 mm thick, with a total volume of approximately 348.54 cm³ and a weight of 446 g. It features a 3.15″ touchscreen with a resolution of 2100k dots and 100% viewfinder coverage, though the screen does not tilt or flip out. The camera lacks a built-in flash and has no hot shoe for attaching an external flash unit, and it is not weather-sealed against moisture or splashing. Despite these omissions, its compact proportions and system-camera compatibility make it a straightforward body to handle and expand with lenses.
The Sigma BF uses a full-frame back-illuminated CMOS sensor with a resolution of 24.6 MP, paired with the Leica L lens mount and a maximum ISO of 102400, though it does not use a stacked CMOS design and lacks sensor-shift image stabilization. Autofocus is handled through phase-detection for stills, with AF tracking and touch autofocus both supported alongside manual focus. Exposure control is fully manual, covering shutter speed, ISO, and white balance, with a two-stage shutter, burst shooting mode, a maximum mechanical exposure time of 30 seconds, and an electronic shutter reaching approximately 1/25600 s.
The Sigma BF records video at up to 3840 × 2160 at 30 fps, with phase-detection autofocus and continuous autofocus both available during recording. Audio is captured through a built-in stereo microphone using two mics, though the camera has no 3.5 mm headphone or microphone jack, meaning there is no option to connect an external microphone or monitor audio through the body.
The Sigma BF is powered by a removable, rechargeable battery rated at 260 shots per charge under CIPA testing conditions. A battery level indicator is built in, allowing users to monitor remaining power during use.
The Sigma BF includes Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, enabling remote control via a paired smartphone, and connects to a computer or charger through a USB Type-C port. It supports RAW file capture and ships with 230 GB of internal storage, making an external memory card unnecessary — though no memory card slot is provided should additional storage be needed. The camera does not offer HDMI output, NFC, GPS, or first-party live streaming support.
The Sigma BF uses USB 3.2 for wired connectivity, supporting fast data transfer and charging through its USB Type-C port.
