The Skullcandy EcoBuds feature an in-ear fit and operate as fully true wireless earbuds, meaning there are no cables or neckband involved. They carry an IPX4 rating, offering resistance to sweat, which makes them suitable for workouts and on-the-go use. Stereo speakers are present, while wingtips are not included in the package.
The EcoBuds use a 6 mm driver unit and cover a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, with an impedance of 16 Ohms and a sound pressure level of 105 dB/mW. Passive noise reduction is supported, helping to block out ambient sound through the physical seal of the in-ear fit, though active noise cancellation is not available. The earbuds do not use a neodymium magnet in their driver construction.
The Skullcandy EcoBuds are equipped with a rechargeable battery rated at 8 hours of playback, and a battery level indicator is included to help users keep track of remaining charge. Wireless charging is not supported, so the earbuds rely on a wired connection for recharging.
The EcoBuds connect wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.2 with a maximum range of 10 m, and AAC codec support is included for audio transmission. The earbuds do not support fast pairing or NFC-based pairing, and none of the aptX codec variants — including aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Low Latency, aptX Lossless, or aptX Voice — are available, nor is LDAC or LDHC. USB Type-C is present for wired charging, though it does not factor into the wireless audio connection itself.
The Skullcandy EcoBuds include a practical set of features, among them a find device function, fast charging support, a mute function, and voice prompts for audio feedback. They can be used as a headset and offer a control panel placed directly on the device, though there is no in-line control panel. A travel bag is included in the box, adding a convenient storage option out of the package. Ambient sound mode, in/on-ear detection, and a body temperature sensor are not part of the feature set. The earbuds come with a 1-year warranty.
The Skullcandy EcoBuds are fitted with two microphones to handle calls and voice input, though neither microphone includes noise-canceling capability.
