The Sony Alpha 1 II is a mirrorless system camera with a weather-sealed body measuring 136.1 × 96.9 × 82.9 mm and weighing 743 g. It features a 3.2″ flip-out touchscreen with a resolution of 2095k dots, alongside an electronic viewfinder offering 100% coverage but no tilting capability. The camera uses a full-frame stacked CMOS sensor with back-illuminated architecture, offering a resolution of 50.1 MP and compatibility with the Sony E lens mount. Sensitivity reaches a native maximum of 32000 ISO, expandable to 102400 ISO, with full manual control over ISO, exposure, shutter speed, and white balance. Autofocus relies on phase-detection across 759 focus points, with touch autofocus and AF tracking both supported. Mechanical continuous shooting runs at 10 fps, while the fastest mechanical shutter speed is 1/8000 s and the maximum electronic shutter speed reaches 1/32000 s; flash sync is available at 1/400 s, and maximum exposure time extends to 30 s. In-body sensor-shift stabilization is rated at 8.5 stops (CIPA) and can be combined with lens-based stabilization for enhanced performance.
The Sony Alpha 1 II records video at up to 4320 × 30 fps with a movie bitrate of 400 Mbps, and also supports a 24p cinema mode as well as slow-motion video recording. Phase-detection autofocus is available during video capture, and continuous autofocus remains active throughout recording. Audio handling includes a built-in stereo microphone with two capsules, a 3.5 mm microphone input for external mics, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack for monitoring.
The camera is powered by a removable, rechargeable battery with a capacity of 2280 mAh, rated for approximately 520 shots per charge according to CIPA standards. A battery level indicator is built in, allowing the remaining charge to be monitored during use.
Processing is handled by a Dual Bionz XR engine, and the camera supports both RAW capture and lossless compressed RAW. It includes pixel shift shot functionality and accommodates dual card slots along with an external memory slot for flexible storage. Wireless connectivity covers Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) and Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n), as well as Bluetooth 5 and smartphone remote control; NFC and GPS are not present. Physical connections include a USB Type-C port, an HDMI output, and an advanced hot shoe, rounding out a broad set of interfacing options.
