TCL 50 XE 5G

The TCL 50 XE 5G has a conventional, non-folding form factor with no rugged build certification and no water resistance. It stands 164.1 mm tall and 75 mm wide, with a thickness of 8.3 mm and a total volume of 102.15 cm³. At 185 g, the device sits within a typical weight range for its screen size, offering a standard candybar design without any specialized structural reinforcements.

The TCL 50 XE 5G uses an IPS LCD touchscreen measuring 6.56″ with a resolution of 720 x 1612 px and a pixel density of 269 ppi. It supports a 90Hz refresh rate, which contributes to smoother scrolling and on-screen motion. The panel does not include branded damage-resistant glass, an Always-On Display mode, or support for HDR10, HDR10+, or Dolby Vision, and there is no secondary screen present.

The TCL 50 XE 5G is driven by the MediaTek Dimensity 6100 Plus chipset, built on a 6 nm process with an octa-core CPU running at 2 x 2.2 GHz and 6 x 2 GHz using big.LITTLE architecture with HMP support, delivering 8 threads and 64-bit compatibility. Graphics are handled by the integrated Mali G57 MC2 GPU clocked at 950 MHz, with DirectX 12 support. The device comes with 4GB of DDR4 RAM at 2133 MHz and 128GB of internal storage, while the maximum supported memory can reach up to 12GB and external storage is expandable up to 2000GB. LTE is integrated directly into the SoC, and the device recorded an AnTuTu benchmark score of 442,599.

The TCL 50 XE 5G features a triple-lens rear camera system combining a 50 MP primary sensor, a 5 MP lens, and a 2 MP lens, all using a CMOS sensor without back-side illumination or optical image stabilization. Autofocus options include phase-detection and touch autofocus as well as continuous autofocus during video recording, though laser autofocus is absent. Manual controls cover exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, while burst mode, HDR, slow-motion video, and in-camera panorama are also supported; however, there is no manual shutter speed control and the camera does not shoot in RAW format. Video recording tops out at 1080p at 30 fps, with no HDR10 or Dolby Vision recording support. A single LED flash is present on the rear, while the front camera offers 8 MP resolution without a flash, a secondary lens, or an under-display placement, and optical zoom is not available.

The TCL 50 XE 5G runs Android 14 and includes a broad set of privacy controls, covering clipboard warnings, location privacy options, camera and microphone access management, and the ability to block app tracking, though cross-site tracking blocking and Mail Privacy Protection are not present. On the personalization side, the OS supports dark mode, dynamic theming, theme customization, widgets, and customizable notifications, while focus modes, Wi-Fi password sharing, app offloading, and Quick Start are not available. Productivity features include split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, full-page screenshots, a media picker, Live Text, sharing intents, and the ability to play games while they download. The system also offers offline voice recognition, voice commands, on-device machine learning, phone tracking, multi-user support, a child lock, and a battery health check, but does not support direct OS vendor updates and cannot be used as a PC.

The TCL 50 XE 5G is equipped with a 5010 mAh rechargeable, non-removable battery that supports 18W fast charging, and a charger is included in the box. A battery level indicator is present for monitoring charge status. Wireless charging is not supported.

The TCL 50 XE 5G includes a 3.5 mm headphone jack and stereo speakers, along with a built-in radio. On the wireless audio side, the device does not support aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC, meaning high-resolution and enhanced Bluetooth audio codecs are absent.

The TCL 50 XE 5G supports 5G connectivity alongside Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) and Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC, with a maximum download speed of 3300 MBits/s. It accommodates two SIM cards, includes a USB Type-C port, and has an external memory slot for storage expansion. For navigation and sensing, the device features GPS with Galileo support, a compass, gyroscope, accelerometer, and barometer, while a fingerprint scanner handles biometric authentication; 3D facial recognition and an iris scanner are not present. Features such as satellite SOS, crash detection, ANT+, a heart rate monitor, an infrared sensor, HDMI output, a built-in projector, motion tracking, optical tracking, DLNA certification, and a stylus are all absent.

The TCL 50 XE 5G includes a video light for recording in low-light conditions. The display is flat rather than curved, uses no sapphire glass, and is not an e-paper panel.
