Tecno Camon 30 5G

The Tecno Camon 30 5G has a non-folding, non-rugged design with a water-resistant build, offering a basic level of protection against moisture. The device weighs 199 g, reflecting a moderately sized handset typical of phones with larger displays.

The Tecno Camon 30 5G features a 6.78″ OLED/AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 1080 x 2436 px and a pixel density of 393 ppi, delivering reasonably sharp visuals across its large panel. The display runs at a 120Hz refresh rate and supports Always-On Display, allowing glanceable information to remain visible without fully waking the screen. It does not include branded damage-resistant glass, nor does it support HDR10, HDR10+, or Dolby Vision, and there is no secondary screen present.

The Tecno Camon 30 5G is built around the MediaTek Dimensity 7020 chipset, fabricated on a 6 nm process with a TDP of 7W and an octa-core CPU configuration running at 2 x 2.2 GHz and 6 x 2 GHz across 8 threads, supported by big.LITTLE architecture and Heterogeneous Multi-Processing. The SoC includes integrated LTE, integrated graphics via the IMG BXM 8 256 GPU clocked at 900 MHz with 18 shading units, DirectX 12 and OpenCL 2 support, and handles 64-bit processing with NX bit security and multithreading. The device comes with 12 GB of DDR5 RAM at 2750 MHz — expandable up to a maximum of 16 GB — alongside 256 GB of internal storage. In benchmarks, it scores 513,359 on AnTuTu, 884 single-core and 2,291 multi-core on Geekbench 6, 690 single-core and 1,890 multi-core on Geekbench 5, and achieves 11,558 on PCMark Work 3.0 performance with an endurance result of 670 minutes on the PCMark Work 3.0 battery benchmark.

The Tecno Camon 30 5G features a multi-lens rear camera system led by a 50 MP primary sensor with an f/1.9 aperture, accompanied by a 2 MP and a 0.08 MP lens, all using a CMOS sensor without back-side illumination. The rear setup includes optical image stabilization, 3x optical zoom, phase-detection autofocus for stills, continuous autofocus during video, touch autofocus, and two LED flash units that are not dual-tone or RGB. Video recording reaches up to 2160p at 30 fps, with slow-motion and timelapse modes available, though HDR10 and Dolby Vision recording are not supported. Manual controls cover exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, while manual shutter speed is absent; burst mode and in-camera panorama are also on hand, but RAW capture and 360-degree panorama are not. On the front, a single-lens 50 MP camera handles selfies without an under-display placement or a front-facing flash.

The Tecno Camon 30 5G runs Android 14, a free and open-source platform that supports multi-user access, on-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, voice commands, and device position tracking. Privacy features include clipboard warnings, location privacy options, camera and microphone access controls, and the ability to block app tracking, though cross-site tracking blocking and Mail Privacy Protection are absent. On the customization side, the OS offers theme customization, dynamic theming, dark mode, an extra dim mode, customizable notifications, and home screen widgets, while focus modes and app offloading are not available. Productivity is served through split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, full-page screenshots, a media picker, Live Text, sharing intents, and the ability to play games while they download. A child lock and battery health check are also present, whereas Wi-Fi password sharing, Quick Start, and the ability to function as a PC are not supported. Direct OS updates from the vendor are not provided.

The Tecno Camon 30 5G is equipped with a 5000 mAh rechargeable, non-removable battery that supports 70W wired fast charging, and a charger is included in the box. Wireless charging is not available. The device features a battery level indicator, giving users a straightforward way to monitor remaining charge at a glance.

The Tecno Camon 30 5G includes stereo speakers and a built-in radio, but omits a 3.5 mm headphone jack. On the wireless audio side, none of the advanced Bluetooth codecs — aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC — are supported.

The Tecno Camon 30 5G supports 5G connectivity alongside Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) and Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC, with a maximum download speed of 2770 MBits/s and dual SIM card support. It uses a USB Type-C port running USB 2.0 and does not include an external memory slot, HDMI output, or DLNA certification. Navigation is handled through GPS with Galileo support, and onboard sensors include a gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, and infrared sensor, while a barometer, heart rate monitor, and motion or optical tracking are absent. Biometric security is provided by a fingerprint scanner, though 3D facial recognition and an iris scanner are not present. The device does not support ANT+, satellite emergency SOS, crash detection, or come with a stylus, and there is no built-in projector.

The Tecno Camon 30 5G includes a video light to assist with recording in low-light conditions. The display is flat rather than curved, uses neither sapphire glass nor an e-paper panel.
