Tecno Camon 30S

The Tecno Camon 30S has a standard candy-bar form factor — it neither folds nor carries a rugged build designation. It measures 164.5 mm tall, 74.6 mm wide, and just 7.6 mm thick, with a total volume of approximately 93.26 cm³ and a weight of 189 g. The device holds an IP53 rating, meaning it offers a degree of protection against dust and water splashes, qualifying it as water resistant under everyday conditions.

The Tecno Camon 30S uses an OLED/AMOLED touchscreen measuring 6.78″, rendering content at a resolution of 1080 x 2436 px and a pixel density of 393 ppi. The panel runs at a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother motion and supports an Always-On Display mode, while its contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1 allows for deep blacks characteristic of OLED technology. The screen does not feature branded damage-resistant glass, and there is no secondary screen present. HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision are not supported on this display.

The Tecno Camon 30S is driven by the MediaTek Helio G100 chipset, built on a 6 nm process with an octa-core CPU configuration running at 2 x 2.2 GHz and 6 x 2 GHz using big.LITTLE architecture with HMP support across 8 threads. Graphics are handled by the integrated Mali G57 GPU clocked at 1000 MHz, with support for DirectX 11, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2. The chip includes integrated LTE and TrustZone security, operates within a 5W TDP, and supports 64-bit processing. The device comes with 8 GB of LPDDR4 RAM running at 4266 MHz — expandable up to a maximum of 12 GB — and a maximum memory bandwidth of 17.1 GB/s, paired with 256 GB of internal storage. The AnTuTu benchmark score stands at 420,000.

The Tecno Camon 30S features a dual-lens rear camera system led by a 50 MP primary sensor alongside a 2 MP secondary lens, both using a CMOS sensor without back-side illumination. The main camera supports optical image stabilization, phase-detection autofocus, touch autofocus, continuous autofocus during video recording, and a range of manual controls including exposure, ISO, focus, and white balance, though manual shutter speed is not available. It can record video at 1440 x 30 fps, supports slow-motion recording, HDR mode, burst shooting, and in-camera panoramas, but does not offer 360° panorama, RAW capture, HDR10 recording, Dolby Vision recording, or 3D photo and video. Flash is provided by a single LED unit without dual-tone or RGB capability. On the front, a 13 MP single-lens camera is accompanied by a front-facing LED flash and sits in a standard position above the display rather than under it; laser autofocus is absent on both cameras.

The Tecno Camon 30S runs Android 14 and includes a solid set of privacy controls, among them clipboard warnings, location privacy options, camera and microphone access management, and the ability to block app tracking, though cross-site tracking blocking and Mail Privacy Protection are not present. On the customization side, the OS supports dark mode, dynamic theming, theme customization, widgets, and customizable notifications, while focus modes and app offloading are not available. Productivity features include split-screen multitasking, Picture-in-Picture, full-page screenshots, a media picker, sharing intents, Live Text for selecting text from images, and the ability to play games while they are still downloading. The system also supports on-device machine learning, offline voice recognition, voice commands, phone tracking, multi-user accounts, a child lock, and a battery health check. OS updates are not delivered directly from the vendor, and Quick Start and Wi-Fi password sharing are not supported.

The Tecno Camon 30S is equipped with a 5000 mAh rechargeable battery that supports 33W fast charging, allowing for quicker top-ups over a wired connection. A battery level indicator is present, giving users a clear read on remaining charge at a glance. The battery is not removable, and wireless charging is not supported.

The Tecno Camon 30S includes stereo speakers and a built-in radio, offering two notable audio outputs without relying on wired headphones. The device does not have a 3.5 mm headphone jack, so wired audio accessories would require an adapter. On the wireless audio side, none of the high-quality Bluetooth codec standards — aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, or LDAC — are supported.

The Tecno Camon 30S supports dual SIM cards and connects wirelessly via Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) and Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), with download speeds of up to 650 MBits/s and upload speeds of up to 150 MBits/s, though 5G is not supported. Wired connectivity is handled through a USB Type-C port running USB 2.0, and there is no HDMI output. NFC is present, while DLNA certification and ANT+ support are absent. For location, the device includes GPS with Galileo support, and onboard sensors cover a gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, and infrared sensor; a barometer, heart rate monitor, and both motion and optical tracking are not included. Security is managed through a fingerprint scanner, while 3D facial recognition and an iris scanner are not available. Crash detection, emergency SOS via satellite, a built-in projector, and a stylus are also not part of this device's feature set.

The Tecno Camon 30S features a curved display and includes a video light for illumination during video recording. The screen is not made of sapphire glass, and the device does not use an e-paper display.
